Willie Williams Sr.

Willie WIlliams Obituary

Willie Williams passed away August 4, 2023

Willie was born Willie Williams on April 23, 1951 in Memphis, Tennessee. Willie was the fifth child in a total of eight born to James Williams and Ada Lee Thomas. Willie enlisted in to the United States Air Force back in 1971. Working as an Aircraft Technician, he had a special interest in the aircraft and aerospace industries, both in and out of the service.

Willie went to Texas State Technical College throughout his life, even recently re-enrolling into the college at the age of 71 to explore a career in OSHA. While at Texas State Technical College, he received certifications in everything from aviation to occupational safety.

In 1974, Willie met Lula Henderson and they were married a short year later. Willie and Lula went on to have a total of six children, Ricardo, Veronica, Garry, Cheron, Willie Jr., and Henry. This year, Lula and Willie would have celebrated forty-eight meaningful years of marriage. The two were able to find that special balance of arguing about who had the remote control last and making each other an egg sandwich early in the morning.

Family and friends would all agree that Willie lacked the ability to just be still. Willie was determined to have a purpose, even beyond his golden years. While he was no longer able to move as physically fast as before, his spirit never lagged. Willie sought out fulfillment at the age of 72 in the same way he searched for it at 22. He enjoyed a nice Coke or Pepsi, sometimes the occasional Dr. Pepper with a pack of Cream Cheese & Chives snack crackers, of course they had to be Lance Snack Cracker’s brand. Willie was 5’9, but he stood six feet tall to those around him. He searched for fruition yet he was already successful. He had already achieved what most people never will in life, admiration. Willie was both admired and revered. This loss is not only devastating to his loved ones, but to the veteran community and the TSTC campus as well.

Willie was preceded in death by parents, James Sr. and Ada Lee Williams; sister, Sharon; brothers, David Lee and Charles Adams.

Willie is survived by his loving wife Lula; brothers, James Jr., C.V. St. Jamada; sisters, Mary Jean Crosby, Queenester Olsen; six children, Ricardo, Veronica, Garry, Cheron, Willie Jr., and Henry; grandchildren, Brandon, Brittney, Maliyah, Mylee, Makenzi, Makya, Sophia, Sebastian, and Rosie; great-grandchildren, E’aaisha, I’aajzia, Liberty, Jar’emani, and Jarmaine.
