Timothy Vargas, 76, of Waco, passed away on Friday, December 21st at a local hospital. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 AM Monday, December 24th at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 1312 Dallas St. in Waco, with Father Cyril Ejaidu serving as celebrant. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 PM with the rosary being recited at7 PM Sunday, December 23rd at Lake Shore Funeral Home, 5201 Steinbeck Bend in Waco. Timothy was born August 22, 1936, in Rosebud to Jose and Julia Moreno. A truck driver by trade, Timothy was employed by M. Lipsitz and Co. over 35 years. He loved to fish, going to the gun range, working with wood, spending time with friends and family. He lived in the community his entire life. Was loved and respected by all who knew him. He was a kind and generous person.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jose Vargas; sister, Lucia Vargas Sambrano; sons, Matthew Costa, Timothy Vargas, Jr., and Joseph Vargas and grandaughter, Jessica Thorp.

Survivors include wife of 50 years, Manuela Vargas; mother Julia M. Hunter; sons Albert Morales, Jesse Perez and wife, Ester, Vincent Perez and wife, Rita, Rudy DeHolloz, Paul Vargas and wife, Karen, Sam Vargas; daughters, Delores Martinez and husband, Roy; Juanita Vargas Vega and husband Roberto; foster daughter Alma Barrientos, brothers, Sabino Arausa and wife Vera; Edward Herrera and wife Christy; sisters, Martha Tellez, and husband Joe; Rose Garcia and husband Ben; 23 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and his cat, Princess.

Grandsons will serve as active and honorary pallbearers.

  5. Wow… It seems like just yesterday he was out driving his truck and having fun. This whole thing is shocking to me. My grandpa was a good man, he was the best man I have ever known! He always made everybody laugh and smile, he was a very lovable and caring person. I will always remember my grandpa as the funny and friendly person that he was! I can still hear him saying "Hey popita!" He will forever be in my heart and I miss him so much but I have to remember he’s in a better place now. Where he is not only my grandpa but also my guardian angel watching over me! I love you so much grandpa, may you rest in peace!
