Royce Allen Blanton, 90, of China Spring, Texas went to be with the Lord Friday, October 13, 2023, at his home surrounded by loved ones.

Visitation: 6 – 8 PM Thursday, October 19  at Lake Shore Funeral Home

Royce was born on December 24, 1932, in Crawford, Texas to James Lee and Hassie Elizabeth (Pack) Blanton. As a child he worked hard alongside his parents and siblings on the family farm. That ethic of hard work followed him into adulthood as he became a long-time employee of Gulf States Paper, eventually retiring in 1992. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. He was a creative man, who could build and repair anything. As a farmer and rancher, bred and raised horses and cattle and grew his own hay. He also enjoyed trail riding on his hand-built horse drawn wagons and buggies. Royce and his wife, Margarette, were married 51 years and had 7 children between them.

He was preceded in death by his parents; James and Hassie Blanton; siblings, Earl Blanton, Ray Blanton, Ruth Blanton, Opal Christian, Wilma McCutchen, and Mildred Bayes; sons, Stephen Blanton, and Roger Thomison; great-great grandson, Grayson Matus.

Royce is survived by his wife, Margarette Penny Blanton; sons, Marshall Blanton, and wife Debbie of Elm Mott; Bradley Blanton, and wife Mary of Del Valle; daughters, Sandra, and husband Larry Matus of West, Donna, and husband Victor Morgan of West; Judy, and husband Richard Taylor of McGregor; Margaret, and husband John Burns of China Spring; sisters, Verna Arp, and Dixie Wallace; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren that he loved with all his heart.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to China Spring VFD P.O. Box 65, China Spring, Texas 76633.
