Ronald Wayne Smith

Ronald

Ronnie “Huey” Smith left this world on Thursday, August 10, 2023 to take his place in the Kingdom of Heaven. Ronnie had been battling some serious health issues over the years, most recently he had been diagnosed with a very aggressive form of lung cancer. Ronnie passed peacefully with loved ones by his side. Ronnie was a loving dad to his daughter Kylie and an exceptional Pop Pop to his grandson Cody who was truly his pride and joy. He was also looking forward to the arrival of his new grandson Noah. Ronnie was quite the character and always quick with a joke. He never met a stranger and always made friends quickly and they usually turned into lifelong friends. He loved making people laugh and helping people as much as he was able. He had a big heart and loved his family more than anything else. He will be so deeply missed by all that knew and loved him. Ronnie was preceded in death by his dad, James Pope; mom, Rita “Rere” Johnson; his “Pretty Mama”, Joyce Pope; brother, Butch Ross; and nephew, Jonah Neal. He is survived by his best friend in life, Karen Harris; daughter, Kylie Rickard; grandsons, Cody Rickard and Noah Nelson; sister, Rhonda Game and husband Tommy; niece, Louisa Neal; close companion, Darlene Olvera; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and countless friends that were very much family to him. No service is planned at this time. However, we do plan to have a Celebration of Life “party” in the next month or so. Please reach out to family for details.Ronnie would have wanted everyone to not be mired down in sadness and grief, but to remember him in a positive and fun light – that’s how we intend to celebrate his life – so stay tuned!

Losing such a light in life is difficult, and brings heaviness and the darkness of grief. I pray the memories will bring smiles that will soon ease the grief and pain of losing him.
