Rita (Rere) Merle Johnson, 78, of Waco, passed away peacefully Monday, December 14, 2020 after a courageous battle with Cancer.

The family will be planning a memorial ceremony to be announced at a later date.

Rere was born March 14, 1942 in Houston, Texas. Everyone that knew her found her to be loving, kind, funny, and loyal. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend. She always did everything she could to make sure that those closest to her were happy and taken care of. She enjoyed cooking and made the best Coconut Cream Pie ever! She was a huge football fan and loved the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Longhorns. She had a very strong belief in God and His workings in her life. She most enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was happiest surrounded by those she held dearest.

Rere was preceded in death by her parents, Bob Maenner and Rose Pope; aunt, Joyce Pope (Aunt Dootsie); brother, Scott Coons; sister, Jo Rogers; and grandson, Jonah Neal.

Rere is survived by her children, son, Ronnie Smith; daughter, Rhonda Riggs and fiance’, Tommy Game;  granddaughters, Louisa Neal, Kylie Rickard and husband, Clifton; great-grandson, Cody Rickard; brother Jim Maenner; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family also wishes to extend special thanks to the loving staff at Texas Home Health Hospice and Waco Healthcare and Rehabilitation.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a charity of their choice.
