Nickolas Andrew Rice-Mackley, 14, of Speegleville, passed away Sunday,
February 16, 2014. A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 PM,
Saturday, February 22, at Speegleville Saddle Club.

Nick was born July 18, 1999. He attended Midway as an 8th grade student. Nick was a great kid who never asked for much more than his favorite army men. He was a typical teenager; he loved ramen noodles, listening to the radio, watching anime, and online gaming. He also enjoyed fishing with his uncle Gene, fixing Wednesday night spaghetti dinners and go-carting with the neighborhood kids. Nick never missed Thursday night wrestling.

Nick usually kept pretty quiet, content to be himself. He enjoyed reading Rick Riordan books. Nick was an animal lover with 3 pets of his own; his dog Lucy, his cat Max, and a turtle named Phoenix.

While Nick’s life was short, it was full of love. So many people loved and cared for him; he will be dearly missed.

He was preceded in death by his birth father, Rodney Burns.

He is survived by his loving parents, Gene and Robin Mackley of Speegleville; his birth mother, Darla Rice of Moody; two brothers, Michael Burns of Bellmead and Matthew Dake of Copperas Cove; one sister, Kristen Barber, also of Moody; step-sister, Meredith Mahan of Waco; as well as many other dear family members and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made at
any Bank of America location under "Nickolas Rice Funeral Fund".

you will be missed so much nick, you really will, i remember the first time you moved here to midway in 6th grade with me into my math class and sat right infront of me. you were always pretty quiet but i was always curious about you. you seemed very different from alot of kids and i found you interesting and so i decided to make you my friend the first day i met you. for the three and half years ive known you, youve rode my bus, youve sat near me in atleast one class, and this year we sat next to eachother every class i had you in. now your gone it feels like im missing something. and it feels empty without you. you where such a good person, never caused trouble and was always drawing a plan for battle, it was pretty cool, and you were always reading books and working on something, never bothering anyone always so quiet and you were always nice to me ever since i met you. I appreciate that very much thank you for all the time and memories, you will be loved and missed.
