Edna “Melissa” Sherosky-Wilhite, 65, of Waco went to be with the Lord in the early morning hours of January 13, 2024. She spent her final days surrounded by the love of her family with a lap full of cats.

Visitation:  6 – 8PM Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at Lake Shore Funeral Home
Funeral Service:  10am Thursday, January 25, 2024 at Lake Shore Funeral Home
Interment:  Oakwood Cemetery

Melissa was born on May 30, 1958, in Waco to Alvis Randal Sr. and Dorothy Mae Wilhite. Melissa Graduated from LaVega High School in 1976. During her High School years, along with her sister and first best friend, Gaylona, she was an active member of Rainbow Girls, Baylor Assembly 306 and later served as Mother Advisor. Melissa found her true passion as an infant room teacher at Tennyson Playcare where she was “Mamaw” to countless children in her care and mentor to numerous teachers for 27 years until her retirement in 2022.

Melissa started her own family in 1990 with the birth of her twin boys, Jacob and Matthew. While nurturing babies was her passion, being a Momma was her proudest accomplishment. She shared the joy of parenting with her best friend, soulmate and love of her life, Karen when they became a family in 1997, finally they were able to marry in 2016. They later welcomed Krysten and Claudia, who they consider daughters, into the family. Melissa’s absolute greatest joy was becoming a true Mamaw to Jordyn and Jameson, who she spoiled every chance she got.

Melissa was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Lesley Farley and Dorothy Walker; brother, Randy Wilhite and wife Tommie; brother-in-law, Glenn “Dude” Yerger and sister-in-law, Linda Wilhite; mother and father-in-law, Rhea and Edward Sherosky.

She is survived by wife, Karen; sons, Jacob Wilhite and wife Krysten and Matthew Wilhite and wife Claudia; grandchildren, Jordyn and Jameson Wilhite; sister, Gaylona Yerger; brothers, Wayne Wilhite and wife JoAnn, Darrell Wilhite and Robert Wilhite and wife Paulette; sisters-in-law, Judy and husband Neil and Angie Francis; nieces, Jessica and Ashley Yerger and Haley Farley; great nephew, Kody James; great nieces, Kallie Roy and Chanler Streibel along with numerous other nieces and nephews. She is also survived by all her loving kitties and pups.

Pallbearers will be Jacob and Matthew Wilhite, Kody James, Dustin Streibel, Scott Czjakowski and Chet Norvell.

Melissa, you were a special person on this earth to so many. I’m sure you gained your wings and will forever be watching over and cheering on all left behind.
