Margaret Collins

Margaret L. Collins, 98, of Waco, passed away Wednesday, May 1, 2019.

Visitation: 6-8 pm, Sunday, May 5, 2019 at Lake Shore Funeral Home
Funeral Service: 11:00 am, Monday, May 6 at Lake Shore Funeral Home with Brother Chris Moore officiating.

Margaret was born April 13, 1921, in Granger, Texas to William Marcus and Quinnie Ola (Scott) Messer.  She married Robert (Bob) Collins July 5, 1942, in Austin, where they met working at the Texas School for the Deaf.  Shortly afterwards, Bob joined the military, where he served in World War II.  Margaret was a devoted military wife and together, they raised three children and lived in many places and shared many unforgettable memories.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Bob Collins; a granddaughter; a grandson; a great-grandson; three sisters; one brother; and her parents.

Margaret leaves behind to cherish her memory daughter, Brenda Martin; sons, Bob Collins, Jr. and wife Beth and Ken Collins and wife Patty; grandchildren, Ricky Collins, Mike Collins and wife, Amy, Diana (DeeDee) Burks, Chris Martin, Andrea Rains and husband, Justin; great-grandchildren, Welsey Burks, Jennifer and Jason DeFriese, Anna Adams, Ashley Collins, Hunter, Haidyn, and Halle Work, Layla Martin, Melissa Goad, Jonathan Collins, Harper, Landry, and Wyatt Rains; and numerous great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.

    Dear Brenda, sorry to hear about your mother’s passing. She had a nice long life & was loved by all.

    One of my memories of her was when y’all came to my home, I think in Mesquite so it was more than 30 years ago. She brought the best pinto beans I have ever had! I asked her for her recipe & she laughed.
    I’ve never been able to make them nearly as good.
