Loren Watterworth died 23 June 2011 peacefully in her sleep in Temple, Texas, just two weeks shy of her 51st birthday. She leaves behind her loving children, Jeffrey and Nicole Watterworth; her husband of 26 years, Randolph Watterworth; and her sister, Claire Jacobs, and niece, Mackenzie Jacobs. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Edmond Jacobs, Jr., and Noelie Turrentine Jacobs.

Loren was born in Houston, Texas, and spent part of her childhood growing up in Midland, Michigan, as well as in the Netherlands. Like her grandparents, her parents, and her sister before her, she graduated from Rice University. She went on to become a registered nurse and spent the past 15 years working at the VA Hospital in Temple, where she was loved and respected by her patients and her coworkers alike. In the past few years, Loren became an excellent poker player and rose quickly in the ranks of world class players. She came in 9th at the Ladies No-Limit Hold

    Lori was such fun I. Junior high and high school. We zipped around in her litttle orange MGB and hand a fun time. Through the years we lost close touch but when we did talk on facebook it revolved around her love of the kids and the great life you all had together. May God’s love, good friends and your memories carry you through these difficult times.

  5. Loren was one of my closest friends here at the VA, and one of the most compassionate nurses I know. She went to New York with me and we just got back from a cruse, but she will continue to travel with me through the rest of my life. Everytime I see a Ding Dong I will certainly smile knowing how much she loved them.

  21. I had the pleasure of working with Loren for 9 years in the ICU. We shared many shifts together and many stories. I feel that I know her family from those stories. She talked about her family every day and it was obvious where her heart was. She was an excellent nurse and a person of very high morals that I respected very much. I learned from her and will miss her very much. Jeffrey and Nicole, she was so proud of you. Continue to make your Momma proud.

    Loren was so full of life and love. I am just shocked and sad that she is gone. When we communicated via FB or email, she always spoke with such pride about her family, especially Jeff and Nicole. Her fun sense of humor and positive outlook have been a source of joy since I first met her back in 1977. Randy, Jeffrey and Nicole, I am so sorry for your loss. Loren will be missed by many.
