Linda J. Woodard

Linda J. Woodard of Waco, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 22nd, 2019, at Providence Hospice Place.

Service Information: A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held Friday, June 7, at 11:00 am at Lake Shore Funeral Home, 5201 Steinbeck Bend, in Waco, with Pastor C.J. Oliver officiating.  A private burial with close family and friends will take place at Oakwood Cemetery.

Linda was born on March 7, 1951 in Waco, TX, to Henry and Lillie Mae Hainsworth . She attended Waco ISD schools, graduating from Moore High in 1969. Linda also attended 4C College, obtaining her certificate as a Medical Ward Clerk in 1970. The following year on October 15th, 1971, Linda married her soulmate and true love, Lorenzo Woodard in Waco, TX. Of this union, two children were born, Stacy and Reginald whom she loved dearly. Linda was a dedicated employee of G.W. Carver Middle School in the Food Services Department, where she served in many roles for 11 years until she became ill in 1996 .

Linda was loved by so many. Her love and passion for cooking for her family and friends is what everyone remembers and cherishes. Hosting holidays at home, random gatherings with family and friends in Cameron Park, and serving her children’s friends quick meals is what she loved to do. She was an unconditional giver that just wanted the people around her fed and happy.

Linda was preceded in death by both her parents and mother-in-law, Beulah Mae Woodard.

Linda is survived by her husband, Lorenzo Woodard; her daughter and son-in-law, Stacy and Ray Walker of Waco; son and daughter-in-law, Reginald and Jessica Woodard of Waco; grandsons, Jalen and Khalil Walker of Waco, TX; granddaughters, Jada Walker and Kadynce “Kady” Hunt of Waco,TX; and great-grandson, Ja’Princeton Walker also of Waco.  She is also survived by her siblings, sister, Billie Terry of Banning, CA; sister, Marva (Jacob) Greene of Goodyear, AZ and brothers, Henry “Donnie” (Marge) Hainsworth Jr. of Keller, TX; Lawrence Hainsworth of Waco, TX; and Garry (Angela) Hainsworth of Arlington, TX; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Honorary Pallbearers are Jacob and Gary Greene of Goodyear, AZ, Kevin Betters of Grand Prairie, TX, Damian and DelRick Kelley of Irving, TX, Oliver Jones of Addison, TX, Joel Martinez, Devon Catron and Lance Gadlin, all of Waco, TX.
