Kenneth McMullen

McMullen

Kenneth McMullen, 88, passed away Tuesday, August 17, 2021.

Funeral Service: 9:30AM Saturday, August 21 at Lake Shore Funeral Home Chapel. A private Family Burial will follow the service at Rosemound Cemetery.

Visitation: 6 to 8PM Friday, August 20 at Lake Shore Funeral Home, 5201 Steinbeck Bend in Waco.

Kenneth was born April 5, 1933 in Llano to Richard and Sybil   McMullen. He married Monalou Lane on June 2, 1956, and they were married for 63 years. God blessed their union with three sons and one daughter. Kenneth started in air conditioning at the age of 23 and continued until he was 77.  He began his own business, McMullen Service Co., in 1975 and trained his three sons to help out in the business.  He taught us not only how to work on A/C’s, but also how to be honest, keep our word, and to live for the Lord.  He had great character and was well loved by his family, customers, and his church family.  He was known to always take the hardest job, and never expected someone to do something that he wouldn’t do himself.  His Christian example will continue to influence us through the hard times of our lives. He was life-member of the Church of Christ and lived out his faith with joy.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Monalou McMullen; sister, Annalee Kniffen; son-in-law, Terry Golden; two grandsons, Justin Golden and Zane McMullen.

He is survived by sons, Nathan McMullen and wife, Marijane, Kevin McMullen and wife, Kyla, and Gayland McMullen and wife, Sheryl; daughter, Kathy Laney; sister, Loreta Morgan; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Place of Service: Lake Shore Funeral Home Chapel , 5201 Steinbeck Bend; Waco, TX 76708

Condolence Messages

  1. Mr. McMullen was a true gentleman, with strength of character and integrity. He and his fine family have been taking care of things at our home for the 26 years we’ve lived here, and I have never once doubted that the work was the best we could wish for and at the best price. He instilled that honesty and integrity into his family, and I pray all of you will continue to be blessed by his legacy.

  4. Carolyn Payne Lomax

I met your father, when the heating unit on our “new” unit, started giving us trouble, in 1963. We became friends and when he went into business for himself, that is who I called, when I needed service. I never met your mother or sister, but I knew “all the boys” and each and everyone of them worked on our AC and Heating units. Even though I never met the ladies of your family, I felt as if I knew them, too, as Kenneth always was telling stories about their adventures.

May his soul rest in peace and the love of God carry him, to his eternal resting place.

  5. He’s very special he was able to reach through to my grandpa when we couldn’t

  6. Mr. McMullen will be truly missed. He was an exceptional man who anytime you saw him he made you feel like you were the
only person he was working with that day A trait he has passed down to his sons. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you. God has welcomed His Shepard home!

  7. “Kenneth Bryan McMullen”
“Last night heaven gained a very special angel.”
My tribute to a very special man that I was blessed to call my father in law:

I remember back in about 1974, that’s when I first got to know him. If I remember correctly he was around 42 yrs old. I was 14.

I remember his kind and ready smile. His gentle way. That was a trait I never saw him lose in all these years no matter what.
I never heard him raise his voice even. He was a gentle giant. And not only in height.

He was A special husband, father, paw paw and friend to all. But most of all Christian.

He never had to demand respect because he earned it, his whole life. In his business, his church life, his family. He sacrificed for all of the above gladly.

Hard working and honest there was almost nothing he couldn’t repair. Many families of Waco still remember him with fondness as he took time to visit when he came to their homes to repair their air conditioning or appliances.

His children and grandchildren were blessed to call him dad and pawpaw, and the example he left us all is something to be proud of. I certainly will miss him. His family and church family will too!

Go rest high on that mountain, sweet paw paw. Your work on earth is done. You fought the good fight and never wavered, therefore we do not wonder where your reward will be.
See you on the other side.💙
    Your daughter in law, Kyla

Our Lord God has made a special for Kenneth, and has given him a special task…..Keeping everyone comfortably cool ! ! ! I got to meet Kenneth at my mom and dad’s home in Bosqueville while he was there servicing their unit several years ago. My dad was especially fond of Kenneth, as they shared the same Church of Christ faith – my dad’s father was a Church of Christ minister for almost 50 years! Our Lord God will take Kenneth under His arm and give him eternal peace and happiness. My prayers to the family at this time of sorrow.
