John Monroe Carlisle, Jr. (Johnny), 66 of Eddy, Texas passed away peacefully on August 15, 2023 at his residence after a short battle with cancer.

A Memorial Celebration of Johnny’s life will be held at Bruceville Community Church, 583 Old Moody Rd., Bruceville, Texas on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at 2 PM, with Pastor Lloyd Strickland (Bubba) officiating. A reception will follow in the church annex.

Johnny was born April 1, 1957 in Waco, Texas to John Monroe Carlisle Sr. and Inez LaDene Carlisle (Hargrove). He was the fifth of six children. Johnny was a great carpenter and good with his hands. Some would say Jack of All Trades, but Master of none. If ever you needed anything you could always call and rely on Johnny. He was well loved by all his family, and a slew of friends. He didn’t have any children so he was the father figure for some of his nieces and nephews.

Johnny was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Sherry Powell and her husband Lawrence; brother, Glenn Randal Carlisle (Randy); one niece and one great nephew.

Johnny is survived by his brother, Jimmy Carlisle (Donna); sisters, Linda Carlisle and Carolyn Gentry (Kenneth); 10 nieces and nephews; 20 great nieces and great nephews; 6 great great nieces and great great nephews; and lifelong friends and family, Bird, Lloyd, Mikie, JD, Nathern and Matt.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks, if you want to, to please donate to the Bruceville-Eddy Fire Department and/or Bruceville Community Church Building Fund.
