Jesse Lee Burks, 76, passed away February 5, 2015.

Memorial Service: 1PM Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at Lake Shore Funeral Home Chapel.

Jesse was born November 10, 1938 to Willie Lee Burks and Verline Patterson. He grew up in Rye, TX where he attended and graduated from public schools. Soon after high school Jesse joined the United States Air Force, mastering wood work as an airplane carpenter. After his military service he worked various jobs doing carpentry, wood work, pipe lining and highway construction work until his health began to fade. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting, fishing, and football. Jesse enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, often attending their sporting events, and playing dominoes with his friends.

Jesse was preceded in death by his parents; beloved aunt, Margaret Lockett; brothers, Charles Walsh, Willie Burks, Jr., and Lee Henry Burks; and sister, Carolyn Wyatt.

He leaves to cherish his memories a daughter, Joyce Burks-Majors and husband Spencer; sons, Bobby Q. Burks and Charles Burks of Liberty, TX; sisters, Carolyn Holland of Dallas, Beverly Jackson and husband Gale of Tyler, TX, Brenda Williams of Waco, TX, Roslyn Bradley of Garland, TX, Rose Mary Smith of Cleveland, TX, Vanessa Bledsoe, and Pamela Thomas, both of Houston; brother, Albert Burks of Houston; nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; a host of cousins nieces, nephews and other relatives.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Lake Shore Village Nursing Home and staff, Lake Shore Funeral Home, Bluebonnet Hospice Service, and special friend Charles Majors.
