James Douglas Shillings, 76, of Waco, passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at a local nursing center.

Doug, as he was known to his family, was born February 21, 1947 in Waco to James and Ruth (Smith) Shillings. When Doug was young, He loved his horse and trail-riding and riding in parades together. He also loved his base CB radio- perhaps you conversed with “The Fisherman”, which was his CB handle. As time went on, Doug was passionate about fishing. He loved sitting on his front porch, accompanied by his cats. He also enjoyed growing pears and selling them to folks who would come from afar to buy his good tasting pears.

Doug loved his family dearly and he knew Jesus Christ as his savior.

Doug’s family loved him so much as well. His sister cared for Doug all of his life. Doug was contrary at times but was quick to apologize. We know Doug is happy in Heaven now and there is no more suffering.
