James Chesley Dodson, Jr., 87 of Waco passed away on Monday, October 26, 2015.

Memorial Service: James’ family will have a private family memorial; it was his wish to further medical study by having his body donated to Life Legacy Foundation.

James was born in Fox, Oklahoma on October 17, 1928 to the late Chesley, Sr. and Lola McCurly Dodson. Raised in the Duncan, Oklahoma area, graduating from Duncan High School in 1946, he went on to achieve his Master’s degree in history from Utah State University. James served his country in the United States Army for over 20 years, retiring in 1970 as a Lieutenant Colonel. James married the love of his life, Mary Sue Hutchinson; together they spent over 30 years in the Waco area. After retiring from the US Army, James went to work for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice in the training department in Gatesville, Texas. Through the years, James and Mary Sue enjoyed traveling all over the United States in their motor home. James also enjoyed a good day of fishing at Goose Island. James is preceded in death by his parents, James and Lola Dodson, Sr.; his wife, Mary Sue Dodson; sister, Margaret Rogers; son-in-law, James E. Dulin; granddaughter, Kari Baker; and great granddaughter, Kassidy Baker.

James leaves behind his 5 children, Linda Dulin, Ted Dodson, Nancy Lanham and her husband Chris, Kay Bailey and her husband Keith, and Jennifer Biles and her husband Steve; 9 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 3 brothers, Dale Dodson, Charles Dodson and his wife Gayle, and Kenneth Dodson and his wife Pat; along with a host of other loving family members and friends.
