David G.Schell, 52, of China Spring, passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at a local hospital. Memorial services will be 11AM Monday, July 25th at Lake Shore Funeral Home Chapel with Police Chaplain Frank Gentsch officiating. Visitation will follow the service. David was born October 31, 1958 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He married Nora Ybarra on July 21, 1990 in Corpus Christi. He lived in Waco since 1980. David worked for City of Waco Police Department for 30 years, retiring in November 2010. He was also a member of CLEAT- Combined Law Enforcement Associations of Texas and Waco Police Association.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald G. Schell and Judith Starnes.
Survivors include wife of 21 years, Nora Schell of China Spring; son, Joseph Schell of China Spring; step-mother, Diane Schell of Las Vegas, NV; sisters, Cathie Richardson of Issaquah, WA, Debbie Halverson of Puyallup, WA, and Donna Smith of Tucson, AZ; brother, Rodger Schell of Las Vegas, NV; in-laws, Joe and Sylvia Ybarra of Corpus Christi; and four nieces.
Special thanks to Hillcrest Hospital ICU nurses and doctors, and Hillcrest/Scott & White Hospice.
