David Corwynn Willis, 75, of Austin, Texas, peacefully passed away February 14, 2023, in Waco. He will be laid to rest alongside his mother, father, and big brother at Oakwood Cemetery Saturday, March 18th, at 10a.m. Military honors will be observed and a reception will follow the service.

David was born in Waco, Texas, to Henrietta and Rudy Willis. He graduated from Richfield High School in 1966 and attended MCC before beginning his Navy career, along with his brother Gary, in 1968. He began his service in Hawaii as a Navy Corpsman providing medical support to U.S. Marines and finished his career as a Navy Recruiter.

David also attended Texas Tech University and remained loyal to Tech in all sports. His retirement was a good one. He enjoyed numerous retreats to Hawaii, lived in his two favorite states Texas and Arizona, and followed football and basketball at all levels. He loved spending time with his family and friends, particularly his grand nieces and nephews whom he loved spoiling.

David was preceded in death by his parents and brother Gary Willis.

Survivors include his brother, Randy Willis; sisters–in-law, Lesley Willis and Irene Farley; nephews, Stephen Willis, Derek Willis, and nieces, Keima Zapata, Brittany Ortega, Meghan Willis and Erin Willis, and their families; numerous grand-nieces and grand-nephews, all of whom have special memories of “Uncle David”; and many other loving family members.

We wish to thank Lakeshore Village Nursing & Rehab, Halcyon Home Hospice, and Lake Shore Funeral Home for their help and support.
