Darlene Louise Heintz

Darlene Louise Heintz, 53, of Lorena, passed away Thursday, October 18, 2018 at Providence Hospice Place in Waco.

Visitation: 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Monday, October 22, at Lake Shore Funeral Home.

Funeral Service: 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 23, at Lake Shore Funeral Home with Chaplain Tim Anderson officiating.

Darlene was born March 5, 1965 in Stockton, California to Otis and Mary Cardwell. She served 15 years in the US Navy and was deployed to Germany in 2007 and returned to the United States in 2008. She then earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree in 2015 and worked for the past three years in the Emergency Room at Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest Medical Center.

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents; aunt, Frances Fletcher; cousin, Julie Junk; and uncle, Mateo Ammirati.

She is survived by her daughters, Anna Taylor and husband, Shawn and Isabella Cardwell; sisters, Betty Sampson and husband, Terry, Gina Carroll and husband, Shawn, Geri Cardwell and Darlene’s twin sister, Irene Raleigh; her brother, Bud Cardwell and wife, Katy; sister-in-law, Trish Haro; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, Darlene requested that memorial donations in her memory be directed to the Gary Sinise Foundation at www.garysinisefoundation.org or to Providence Hospice Place in Waco at www.chot.org/hospicecare/waco

Her service to our country and to all those she touched in the ER at BSWH Hillcrest hospital are so greatly appreciated. She will be missed.   7. I did not know Darlene well, but I will always remember her smile. She visited with Gina and Shawn who were longtime neighbors. I pray peace for all who knew and loved her. ????????

She was one of my favorite students. I remember her telling me “all I want is to do is to make sure my Bella is safe and graduate as a nurse before I leave this world”
