Coby Dwayne Gaines was born July 13, 1982, in Waco, Texas and he passed away March 11, 2023.

Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, March 18, 2023, at 10:00am at Journey Community Church in China Spring. Come celebrate Coby’s love of sports in your favorite sports team attire.

Raised in Waco, Coby attended Midway High School. Coby grew up loving sports, especially basketball and football. He was a passionate fan of the Dallas Mavericks, Dallas Cowboys and Notre Dame.  His love for sports always led him into conversations with other people… a skill that would serve him well as a waiter in the local restaurant industry over the past 20 years.  Being a natural conversationalist, Coby would often turn basic daily banter into meaningful conversations that would turn into friendships with many people around town.

Coby was preceded in death by his father, Steve Gaines, and his mother, Melodee Morrow.

Coby is survived by his mom, Beverly Gaines and significant other, Rusty Ewen of Georgetown; daughter, Bailee Gaines-Whitener of Ft. Wort; son, Stevie Gaines of Hewitt; daughter, Bella Gaines of Lorena; sister, Casey Turnmire and husband Cory of Waco; sister, Sarina Moore and husband Daniel of Hewitt; sister, Christy Weynand of Waco; brother, Chris Makovy and wife Brandy of Hutto; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
