Cheryl Lynn (Sabo) Rasey, 72, passed away peacefully in the presence of family on June 12, 2021, in Waco, Texas.

Service Information: A memorial service will take place at 1:00 pm July 24, 2021 at the East Texas District Convention Center, 3521 N. Bus 45, Corsicana, with the Bishops Roy Carrico and David Scoggins officiating with a fellowship planned for after the service.

Cheryl was born on February 9, 1949, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She married the love of her life, Tom, in Garrettsville, Ohio on May 13, 1974.  They were partners through thick and thin, serving in ministry together for well over 30 years.

Cheryl was known for her passion, creativity and gift of hospitality. No matter where life took her, she made every house a home and poured generously into those around her.  She served as a Pastor’s Wife in five different churches and as a Children’s Minister in even more. Her nurturing heart made her a “Mama” to many. She loved cooking and crafting, and anyone who was a recipient of one of her homemade cards or homecooked meals knew just how lucky they were. She loved to sing, play dominoes, and was virtually unbeaten in Canasta games. We are all better off for having her in our lives and she will be deeply missed.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Elizabeth Green.

She is survived by her husband, Rev. Thomas Rasey; son, Thomas Rasey Jr. (LeeAnn); daughters, Kimberly Cox (Jimmy), Amanda Rasey, and Elizabeth Birak (Trevor); as well as grandchildren, Michelle, Martin (Jessica), Aidan, Madisyn, Garrett, Ainsley, Graham, and Levi; and great-grandchildren, Kiley and Carson.  She will be deeply missed by her dog, Roxy, and by numerous family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Cheryl’s honor to Mexia Family Church’s Children’s Ministry.

Condolence Messages

  1. Mom, I wasn’t the best kid growing up and I’m so very sorry for that. I put you thru the wringer….I had to prepare you for the next 3 kids.
I am so very blessed to have you as a mom. You were never “mother” because that was too close to a cuss word for you. You were there for my first breath as I was there with you for your last. I will never ever stop missing or loving you. Until we see each other again. Love you to infinity!

  2. Many blessings to all. 💕
    From Brother/Uncle Bill

Dear Sister-Pastor’s-Wife, gonna miss you girl friend. Just knowing you were “there” was a real blessing. When I got the news you had gone on ahead it was with mixed emotions- sad for those left, but so happy for you. I will keep praying for Tom and kids.
