Brenda Hughes, 61, of Hewitt, faithful wife, loving mother and grandmother, passed away Saturday, May 3rd at her residence. Graveside services will be 10AM Tuesday, May 6th at Oakwood Cemetery with Chaplain Brian Pendleton, PhD. officiating. Visitation will be 6 to 8PM Monday, May 5th at Lake Shore Funeral Home, 5201 Steinbeck Bend, Waco. A Video Life Tribute of Brenda’s life will be shown during the visitation. Brenda was born October 31, 1946 in Waco to Harold William and Lillian Irene (Richter) Phillips. She retired as a faithful employee of Library Binding Company after 26 years of service. She married Douglas Allen Hughes on June 1, 1998 in Lott.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Linda Pridemore; and brother, Sammy Lee Phillips.

Survivors include husband of nine years, Douglas Hughes; sons, Michael Hoffman and wife, Sundie and Jimmy Hoffman and wife, Lee Ann, all of Hewitt; and seven grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Hoffman, Michael Hoffman, Don Coates, Bobby Coates, Jeff Blair, Mark Veselka, James Ellison, and Eddie Ayres.

Brenda was a true and dedicated friend to anyone who knew her. To know her was to love her. Her unconditional presence was a source of love and laughter and her smile would light up any room. She will be missed by all.

  16. Brenda was the most wonderful Mother-in-law anyone could have ask for and I was lucky enough to have her as mine. Brenda valued nothing more than family and friends. I will miss her very much.
