Bonnie Sue Hawkins, 85, of Hewitt passed away Tuesday, July 4, 2023.

Celebration of Life: 3PM Friday, July 21 at Lake Shore Funeral Home Chapel

Bonnie was born June 1, 1938 to Leonard and Edna Huddleston in Alton, Missouri.

Growing up she was involved in many sports but really loved playing volleyball.  She loved gardening, birdwatching, reading and enjoying time at the beach. She loved spending quiet time with Jesus and relied on her faith.  She treasured the time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed watching sports and other activities they were involved in.  She was passionate about helping people, whether it was cooking, providing her time or just serving in any capacity.

Bonnie, affectionately known as “Granny” was loved so much. She was gentle, kind, hardworking, and extremely loving.  She was funny and had a great sense of humor.  She loved playing games with her family and was the champion Farkle player. She brought so much laughter and joy to those around.  She was a huge fan of the San Antonio Spurs and Baylor Bears.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her loving parents.

She is survived by her children, Keith Hawkins and wife Cara, Cheri Barrett, Tammy Bates, and Jill Combs; grandchildren, Kate Murphy, Spencer Hawkins, Ariel Day and husband Josh, and Dylan Combs and wife Ashton; great grandchildren, Finley, Ellis, MacCarver, Everleigh, and Lakelynn; sisters, June Stephens, and Ann Gragert and husband Scott; along with several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Memorial contributions can be made to Caritas of Waco in memory of Bonnie.

The family would like to acknowledge a special thanks to MICU third floor and Baylor Scott and White Hillcrest Hospital for their exceptional care.
