Billy Ray Hauk, 85, of West, passed away Friday, January 8, 2016.

Visitation: 4:00PM to 6:00PM, Monday, January 18, 2016 at Lake Shore Funeral Home, 5201 Steinbeck Bend, Waco.

Graveside service: 10:30AM at China Spring Cemetery on Jan 19, 2016, where the United States Army Honor Guard will conduct military honors.

Billy Ray Hauk was born in Rosebud, Texas on February 16, 1930 to Joseph Hauk and Vera Garrett Hauk. He graduated in 1947 from Yoe High School in Cameron, Texas, where he excelled in six-man football. Billy was baptized in the Baptist faith. Billy Ray served his country honorably for 30 years in the Air Force and Army retiring at the grade of Chief Warrant Officer Four, US Army. Billy Ray married the love of his life, Peggy Lynn Ridlehauber on February 14, 1976. Billy was known for his love of life, helpful to others, always putting them before himself. His love of life was reflected in the adoption and care of God’s Creatures that included a mare from the King Ranch along with dogs and cats alike. He was loved by so many and will be missed by all. He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Vera Hauk and four brothers, Johnie, Victor, Jimmie and Paul.

Billy Ray will be remembered in love and respect by his loving wife of 40 years, Peggy Hauk; children, Vic Hauk and wife Nancy, Joe Hauk, Phyllis Fay and husband Doug and James Hauk; grandchildren, Laura, Stephen, Daniel, Zachary, Dorothea, Nick and Joe; along with numerous other loving family members and friends.
