Betty-Jo Somers, 85, of Hewitt, TX, passed away peacefully, on August 14, 2022, in Waco, TX at Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest Hospital.

Betty-Jo was born on November 10, 1936, in Hartford, CT.  She graduated from Glastonbury High School in 1954. Betty-Jo met her husband Donald L. Somers Sr thru her friend Frankie Manfreda. After Donald served in the Navy and the Korean War, they were married in St. James Church, Glastonbury, CT on September 24, 1955. A few years later they decided to start a family. Then moved to Cincinnati, OH after Donald got a promotion with AT&T. After the children were in High School, Betty-Jo started to work at Well Tell Federal Credit Union in Cincinnati. In Retirement, Betty-Jo and Donald were active in the Shrine Organization. They traveled all over the world. Donald fulfilled a dream for both of them in 1998, becoming the Potentate of Sphinx Shrine in Newington, CT. Betty-Jo was very active in the Shrine too. Including the Daughters of the Nile in which she enjoyed very much. They then moved to Colombia, South America, building a beautiful house on top of a mountain. She moved back to the United States after the death of her husband. Shortly after she moved to Hewitt, TX to be near one of her sons.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald in 2015, Mother Alice M Evans (Weldon) in 1995, and Father Harry G Evans in 1987.

Betty-Jo is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Donald L. Somers Jr. and Barbara A. Somers, Brett E. Somers, and best friend Linda Cadario, Rodney D. Somers and Shannon W. Somers. Three admiring grandchildren, Brett E. Somers Jr., Cristina R. Disomma and Wyatt L. Somers. Five wonderful great-grandchildren: Alexis, Nathan, Mikayla, Kaleb and Ariana. And her dog, Missy.
