Bettie Fortson Courter

Bettie Fortson Courter, age 89, of Bosqueville passed away on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 Lakeshore Village HCC. Bettie was born in Bosqueville on October 3, 1932 to the late Fortson McCown Scott and Fleta Lynette Scott.

Bettie had a vivacious personality with a big heart. She was an animal lover. Throughout her life, she was a pet mom to many different animals; dogs, cats, birds just to name a few. In her younger years, she worked at Farm Bureau Insurance before marrying, Wallace Max Courter. During their marriage they had two children, lived for a time in Alaska. She loved to bake and cook for her family, each recipe made with love. Bettie was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She will forever be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister Jane Scott Leach; and brother-in-law Jack Kuehl. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband of sixty-six years, Wallace Max Courter; daughter Lynette Rogers and husband Jay; son, Brian Courter and wife Rosalind; sister Laurita Kuehl; brother-in-law, Bill Leach; granddaughters, Jennifer Rogers and wife Simone Flottmann-Rogers, and Sara Glatter; grandson, Thomas Glatter; great-grandchildren, Djuna Rogers, Jonah Rogers, and Cohen Castillo; nieces, Janet Combs and husband Patrick, Rita Engelbrecht and husband Kevin; nephew, Sloan Kuehl and partner Rachel Wilde; and numerous other loving family members and friends. In addition, she leaves behind her fur baby, Kitty-Cat.

A graveside service and committal will take place 10 AM, Monday, November 22, 2021 at Bosqueville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers and usual rememberances, the family requests donations be made in Bettie’s honor to Fuzzy Friends Rescue:
