Aubrey Rogers

Aubrey Rogers went home to be with Christ on September 26, 2023.

A memorial service will be held at 11AM, October 14, 2023, at Douglass Cemetery, followed by a Celebration of Life BBQ luncheon at Douglass Event Center, 15185 W State Hwy 21, Douglass TX 75943.

Solar Eclipse glasses will be available at the event. Casual attire suggested.

Aubrey was the third of five children born to John and Ethel Rogers in 1943. He grew up in Nacogdoches and Beaumont, TX. After graduating from South Park High School in Beaumont, he went on to earn his B.A. in Education at Lamar University. In his long career at Hamshire-Fannett Middle School, he taught Earth Science and coached multiple sports.

Everyone at school called him “Coach” both on the field and in the classroom. He had patience with his students, and used humor to keep them engaged. He pushed his athletes to excel, but also taught them whether you win or lose, you should always be respectful and gracious.

Aubrey continued the Rogers’ legacy of grit, strong work ethic, respect for education, loyalty, love of family, and love of Christ. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and playing card games and dominoes.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Linda Brammer; brother, Eddie Rogers; wife, Doris Rogers; and daughter-in-law, Donna Rogers.

Aubrey is survived by children, Bradley Rogers, Jana Rogers Escobedo, and Nikki Karch; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandson. He will be dearly missed.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Meals on Wheels of Jefferson and Hardin County, TX (seniormeals.org).
