Harry Arthur Gammons, Sr., 81, of Hewitt, passed away on Wednesday, June 6, 2012. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, June 11, at Lake Shore Funeral Home Chapel, with Chaplain Barry Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Gerald Cemetery with military honors rendered by the U.S. Navy. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. on Sunday, June 10, at Lake Shore Funeral Home, 5201 Steinbeck Bend in Waco. Arthur was born June 15, 1930 in Superior, West Virginia. His dad died when he was young and grew up with a devoted mother and four sisters.

He married the love of his life, Patsy. They had two sons and a daughter. He enjoyed a long career as an engineer in the construction business. Arthur served a term as president of The National Asphalt Paving Association during his career.

Arthur was an avid supporter of the University of Alabama, a personal friend of Bear Bryant and a devoted Alabama football fan. He and Pat loved to travel. In 2004, they went to see the Great Wall in China. But most of all they loved spending time with their three children, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Arthur always said he’d like to live in Texas so several years ago they moved here to Texas where his oldest son lives.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Pat Gammons; his sons, Harry Jr. and his wife, Glenda, Jerry and his wife, Jan; daughter, Karen and her husband, Mike Perkins; grandchildren, Michelle Wood and husband, Joel, Ben and Adam Gammons, Lindsey and Casey Perkins; great-grandchildren, Austin, Cameron, and Bailey Wood and Kya Gammons.
