Jeanette Guidry Matte, 85, of Ding Dong, Texas passed away February 23, 2024 in Riesel Texas.

Graveside Service: 1:00 PM Thursday, March 7, 2024 at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen.

Jeanette was born April 4, 1938 in Jennings, Louisiana to Roy Guidry and Effie Marie Fontenot Billingsley. She married the love of her life, James Gurvey Matte, in November 1957 and they were married for 62 years before his passing in 2019.

Jeanette could always be found buried under material making quilts, at one of her sewing machines, or in the kitchen. She was a great cook and loved to whip up a pot of Gumbo (or another of her Cajun meals) with Gurvey to host a family gathering. She had a wonderful sense of humor and loved her family. She would give anyone the shirt off her back if she knew they needed help. She was devoted to caring for Gurvey and never wanted to leave his side. We know she is back with him now, even though we’ve lost our beautiful Angel. Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Jimmy DuPont; sisters, Laverine Balley and Wilma Maness; and brother, Rolland Guidrey.

Those left to honor her memory are her son, Robert Charles Matte (Judy) and their children, Amber Nichole, Heath Lee (Amanda), Leath James (Mandy), Hector Ruiz (Kim), Ryan Ruiz (Michelle Yuki), Kaitlin Ruiz-Henicke (Kris); son, Christopher Mark Matte and his daughter Amanda Rosella Vasquez (Frank); daughter, Deborah Anne Haun and her children, Clinton “Snuffy” Earl, Jr (Kayla). James Gurvey (Shawnee), Clannie Cyle (Nikki); Daughter, Nanette Marie Tobin (Jody) and her children Lauren Taylor, Chloe Clarissa, Jamee Jeanette; her sister, Nancy Lynn Theresa Lee (Barry); and many great grandchildren.

Special Thanks to Interim Hospice of Waco who made her life easier at the end.
