Robert Lee Horne, age 83, passed away Saturday, January 13, 2024.  

Visitation: 6pm to 8pm Friday, January 19, 2024 at Lake Shore Funeral Home, 5201 Steinbeck Bend, Waco, Texas 76708  

Funeral Service: 11am Saturday, January 20, 2024 at Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church,   9997 S. 3rd Street, Waco, Texas 76706  

Interment: Mount Olive Cemetery  

Robert Lee Horne was born June 26, 1940, the third child of thirteen blessings to Peleton Horne Sr. and Rebecca (Brandon) Horne. He accepted Christ at an early age received his Biblical teaching at Majors Chapel United Methodist Church in Golinda, Texas and later united with Mount Olive Missionary Baptist 

Robert attended Downsville High School and graduated in 1959. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Army in 1959 and served overseas until his Honorable Discharge in 1962 and remained in Army reserved until 1965. 

Robert was a hardworking man and a great provider for his family. He was a encyclopedia of knowledge pertaining to his family history. He worked various jobs around Waco; Frank Smith Meats, Rainbow Bakery Hercules Inc and Hulk (Alcoa) to name a few. 

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Jack Moses Horne and Ora (Beatty) Horne; maternal grandparents, Terrell Brandon and Inez (Thomas) Brandon; parents, Peleton Horne Sr. and Rebecca (Brandon) Horne; seven brothers, Olan (Robert) Horne, Carl Horne, Peleton Horne Jr, Charles Horne, Larry Horne, Edward Horne and Bobby Horne; one sister, Ola McLennan; one stepsister, Edna (Honey)Evans; one daughter, Sherry (Boggess) Williams and one great-great granddaughter. 

He leaves to cherish his memory a devoted wife of 58 years, Hazel Boggess Horne; children, Mimi (Jerome) Fransis of Houston, Texas, Billy (Victoria) Horne, Jessica Horne (Bernard), Willie Gamble Jr (Natalie), Cassandra Moorer and Tommy Moorer all of Waco, Texas; three brothers, Clifton Horne and David Fermis Horne of Waco, Texas and Michael (Debra) Horne of Fort Worth, Texas; two sisters, Carolyn Evans and Brenda Walton of Waco, Texas; 12 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, several nieces, nephews, and a host of family and friends.
