Gwendolyn Fulp Thomas, 92, passed away February 28, 2021.

She was born June 30, 1928 in Crawford, Texas.  She attended Highland School through the 8th grade, graduating from McGregor High School as an honor student in 1945.

After completing a secretarial course at Four-C Business College, she was employed as an executive secretary for the manager of Sears, Roebuck & Company for nine years.

Gwendolyn met and married Carl Thomas in 1954.  Sergeant Thomas was a military policeman in the army, and the family would join him in two tours of duty in Europe for a total of five years, retiring in 1968.

She was a member of Herring Avenue United Methodist Church for many years until the church closed in 2003, at which time she then moved her membership to Elm Mott United Methodist Church.

Gwendolyn was employed for 15 years in the business office of Neurosurgical Associates, retiring in 1993.  Her hobbies were bird watching and feeding, gardening, reading, and cooking.

Preceding her in death was her husband, parents Julius Allen and Margaret Katheryn “Kate” Fulp, sister Margaret Frances Watson and husband Guy, sister Mamie Ruth Drewery and husband Dan, and brother Julian “Sonny” Fulp and wife Jonnie Jo.

She is survived by son Kirk Thomas and wife Vicki of Weatherford, daughter Kathy Dickson and husband William of Waco, granddaughters Jennifer Jewell and husband Kyle, Lauren Thomas, and Megan Dickson, great grandchildren Kyle Benson, Katelynn Benson, Lake Jewell, Lydia Jewell, and Noah Spangler, and several nieces and nephews in Texas, Alabama, and West Virginia.

A private graveside service will be 3:00pm, Friday, March 5, at the Crawford Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Crawford Cemetery (checks payable to Crawford Cemetery and mailed to 10299 Cedar Rock Parkway, Crawford, TX 76638).

    I did not personally know Mrs. Thomas, but I know that she was an awesome woman. Having known and worked with Kathy now for over 20 years, I have a good idea of who Mrs. Thomas was because I know it is reflected in Kathy. I will keep y’all in my daily prayers in the days and weeks ahead, and I pray that you will feel the peace provided by God that surpasses comprehension.
