Idabeth Honnoll, 81 of Waco, passed away June 7th in a local hospital. Funeral services will be held at 6 PM Tuesday, June 10th in the Lake Shore Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Ernie Christi officiating. A visitation and reception will follow the service. Idabeth was born August 21, 1926 in Waco to Whayne & Hermance Farmer. She was preceded in death by her parents and her only brother Whayne, Jr. She lost her husband Vernon in 1998.
She graduated from Waco High School a member of the Famous Class of 1943.
She met and married Vernon June 22, 1946. A year later her only child Verna Beth was born. In early 1950 they moved to the country and tried their hand at farming. Weather and circumstances caused them to move to Houston where they lived until retiring back to their much loved land in China Spring in 1974.
She finally had time to pursue one of her first loves, painting. She took a class with Susan Johnson, then discovered a great group of people at Sull Ross Senior Center. They called themselves the "Happy Strokes" and have painted together weekly ever since. Her country bluebonnet paintings are beautiful.
Since 1994 she’s spent many days in the hospital and recovery/rehabilitation in Lake Shore Village and more recently Ridge Crest Retirement Center. She loved all the people that cared for her so well over the years. She considered Dr Ross Reagan and Dr. BB Chang to be her guardian angels and loved them both dearly, crediting them with giving her many extra years of happiness.
She’s survived by her daughter, Verna Brightwell & her husband Carl, grandson Christopher Brightwell, granddaughter Rachel Parker and her husband Randy, and great-grandson Alexander Parker "AJ", her stepson Jimmy Honnoll & wife Jackie, 2 sister-in-laws & many nieces, nephews & their families.
She will be greatly missed by all those who were touched by her generous loving spirit. Her sparkling blue eyes & ready smile made everyone she met feel just a little better for having known her. Found in her writings were these words that held a special meaning for her, "Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me" and thoughts she repeated often was the wish that people would live the "Golden Rule" of "Do unto others as you would have them would do unto you".

Our hearts go out to you all at this time. It is never easy to loose a loved one, but knowing she is not suffering anymore and is resting peacefully with God gives us comfort. I know you have many wonderful memories to recall. We are all here for you.

I will always love you greatly… your warm smile and huge loving heart will always be with me and I’ll do my best to carry on your daily ritual of spreading happiness and joy to everyone around me… I miss you so much. It has been so long since I last saw your precious Mom, but she always remembered me with that beautiful smile that could melt a mountain! I was Dr. Reagan’s nurse and there are few patients who touched my heart the way your Mom did. I wish I could be with you this evening, but I have a class I must take for work. Please know I am with you in spirit and will pray for you all. I would love to hear from you when you have a chance. I am living in the Ft. Worth area.

My dear sweet Idabeth,
What an honor and a privilege to have known in our later years in life. You were such a God send in my life at a time when I needed a grandmother figure in my life. You stood by me when there was no one else other than my dear James. I know you loved me and I loved and still love you. We have good memories of each other and I know in my heart that you will live on in many hearts you have touched. I will see you again someday, along with all our other loved ones in heaven, with our Lord Jesus Christ, who made it a reality that we would have eternal life. I can still see you smiling and happy and now no more suffering with your health any longer.
With much love to one of the sweetest, unselfish, loving and generous family members I have had in my life I bid you farewell for now, but not forever. Thank you, Idabeth for sharing a big part of yourself with me.
