Ruby (Chancellor) Raby, 73, of Groesbeck, formerly of Fairfield, passed away Friday, May 1st at a local hospital. Private family services will be Saturday, May 9, 2009 at 2:00pm at Chancellor Union Cemetery, Fairfield Lake State Park. . Ruby was born August 20, 1935 in Fairfield to George and Onie (Fails) Chancellor. She was employed at the Dallas Times Herald for many years and the Big Brown Power Plant in Fairfield.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ellis Barker; sister, Retha Mae Chancellor; and brothers Jack & King Chancellor.

Survivors include her loving spouse, Emmett Wilburn Raby of Groesbeck; nieces, Jody Nolen of Tyler & Donna Furlow of Cedar Hill; and nephews, King Chancellor of Chandler, Steve Chancellor of Kaufman, & Bobby Chancellor of Kervin. Ruby leaves behind numerous nephews & nieces of the Ellis Barker family. Also left behind is an extended family, step-son, Dr. Fred Raby & wife, Penny of Hewitt,; step-daughter, Lynda Davidson & husband, Mike of Allen; step-grandson, Ken Davidson & wife, Tricia of Dallas; step-granddaughters, D’Anna Hebert and husband, David of Allen, Casey Vandersee and husband, James of Oklahoma City, OK; and three great granddaughters.

In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to American Lung Association or American Cancer Society.

Ruby,
We made alot of fishing trips to Edders creek in that old yellow pickup. We had plenty of fish bait, lighting in a jar, and a lot of laughs. Life was simple and you were special.
