Ronnie Dean Perry, 55, of Hewitt, passed away on Thursday, November 3, 2016, from injuries sustained in a tragic car accident on his way to work at R. Q. Sims Intermediate School (Mexia ISD).
Visitation: Monday, November 7, 2016 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at Lake Shore Funeral Home, 5201 Steinbeck Bend in Waco.
Celebration of Life Service: Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at 10:30AM in the chapel at Lake Shore Funeral Home.
Burial: Rosemound Cemetery with pallbearers, Cecil Perry, Jr., Rick Perry, Lonnie Perry, Scott Perry, Kevin Foster and Brian Glick.
Ronnie and his twin brother were born on October 5, 1961 in Waco to the late Cecil Wayne, Sr. and Violet Louise Harper Perry. Graduating from University High School in 1980, he went on to attend McLennan Community College and Tarleton State University.
Ronnie married the love of his life, Pamela Morris, on July 21, 1984 in Waco. He achieved his Bachelor’s of Science in Kinesiology in 1998 from Tarleton State and began his teaching career later that year in Marlin ISD as a Coach and History teacher. He was a K-5th grade Physical Education teacher for Brook Avenue Elementary in Waco. Much of his teaching career was for Killeen ISD, where he taught physical education. His passion was enriching his students’ lives making school fun and educational. Ronnie had only been a part of the Mexia ISD for two weeks but was already becoming a huge part of his students’ lives. He will be deeply missed and there are many young lives that have been truly blessed over the years because of his dedication.
When not in the classroom, Ronnie enjoyed playing tennis, even working at the Charlie McCleary Tennis Center in Waco during college. Elvis Presley was an icon for Ronnie. Ronnie enjoyed listening to his music and attended numerous events where impersonators entertained and fulfilled a lifelong dream to visit Graceland with his oldest brother, Cecil Wayne.
Ronnie was also a “Trekkie”; he enjoyed being apart of the Star Trek and ComiCon community, dressing up and attending events with his twin brother, Lonnie and occasionally other friends and family.
In most recent years, Ronnie was involved with the Special Olympics in tennis and served as team captain and participated in Relay for Life Events in honor of those in his life that had been affected by cancer.
He will be forever remembered and cherished for all his contributions. Ronnie is preceded in death by his parents, Cecil, Sr. and Violet Perry; and his father-in-law, Wendell Morris.
Ronnie will be cherished and remembered in love by his loving wife of 32 years, Pamela Morris Perry; son, Michael Perry; siblings, Cecil Wayne Perry, Jr. and his wife Kathy, Richard Perry and his wife Patti, Julie Cowser and her husband Danny, and Ronnie’s twin brother, Lonnie Perry and his wife Rachél; nephews, Christopher Perry, and wife Jenna; Tony Justice; Scott Perry; Mason Morris; and Jonathan Cowser; nieces, Stefanie Perry Head, and husband Martin; Amy Justice; Vanessa Perry; Kayla Perry, and fiance Nathan; Caitlin Sublet and husband, Jonathan; Taitelyn Morris; Lacie Cowser; four great nieces and nephews, Gracie Gardner, Michael Houston, Mallory Houston and Miranda Houston; mother-in-law, Betty Morris; brothers-in-law, Gary Morris and Larry Morris and his wife Jodie; former sister-in-law, Donna Perry Stewart; along with a host of good friends and loving students.
Ronnie’s family asked those wishing to make memorial donations in Ronnie’s name, to make them to The American Cancer Society, an organization he was passionate about supporting.

My daughter was in Mr. Perry’s class this year. No longer than he was there he had already made an impact in her life. She came home the day he interviewed and talked about how they got to run around the classroom as molecules bumping into each other and hoped he got to be her new teacher. She said he made every one laugh with his funny voices in class. My daughter said the last thing he said was that he had to hurry home to fix a light switch so he didn’t get in trouble. Thank you Mr. Perry for touching my child’s life, you will be missed by so many.
Sorry for your lost Pam and Michael keep yall in are prayers.
I rumember the fun times my kids had whit yall at Emanuel Baptist Church much love.
Ronnie was such a wonderful friend and an incredible teacher! We taught together at Nolan Middle School in Killeen. There was nothing Ronnie wouldn’t do for the school, students or the community to make things better! He was a one in a million! Our hearts are breaking over the loss of this wonderful man! Fly with the Angels Ronnie! You will be missed!

Ronnie was a very sweet kind and funny person. I will miss our talks about football and comic books. He will be missed.

I met Ronnie through some mutual friends about a year or so ago. Several of us get together and play cards just about every Wednesday and Ronnie “Silve” is a hoot. He’s generally funny and fairly docile except for the one time he got beat pretty bad on an all-in call, chips went flying everywhere. His passing is really hard for me, so I can’t imagine how those that have know him most or all of his life feel. I’ll miss you man!
To my best friend…I miss you. My world will never be the same. All my love to Pam and Michael.
Prayers for your family during this time. I had the pleasure of working with Mr. Perry for a couple of weeks. He was a very nice man, always smiling and happy. He will be missed by all of us a R. Q. Sims Intermediate school.

Dear Perry Family,
I am so sorry to hear from my sister, Linda, of the tragic passing of our cousin, Ronnie. I remember visiting Uncle Cecil and Aunt Violet as a teenager, and watching the Perry kids grow. My parents loved your parents and family and always shared the Perry news with me. I remember visiting Uncle Cecil with my parents during his illness. Even though our generation has not stayed close, as the previous one, please know that my prayers are with you in your sorrow in the ending of an impressive and loving earthly life and the joy of Ronnie’s spiritual transitioning to our family in Heaven.
Just heard and am so sorry for the family. I knew him when he was young.. a funny guy, sweet, loved playing tennis with his brothers and just a really nice person.
