Richard A. Marlow, 74, of Speegleville, passed away Friday, January 31st at a local hospital. Memorial Graveside services will be 11AM Wednesday, February 5th at Oakwood Cemetery with Rev. James Stevens officiating. Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online Guest Book at www.LakeShoreFuneralHome.com.

Richard was born August 25, 1939 in Mt. Vernon, IL to Allen and Thelma Marlow. He was married to Pauline Copple from 1958-1981 when the couple divorced. Richard was employed by VanTran Electric in Vandalia, IL then moved his family to Waco, TX to work in the power transformer plant built in 1973. Later, he worked in the maintenance department of Mrs. Baird’s Bakery where he retired in 2004. Richard enjoyed gardening, yard work, hunting, fishing, working on race cars and watching Nascar races.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by three children, Larry Marlow and wife Debra of China Spring; Lisa Marlow and Jim Burns of China Spring; Michael Marlow of Waco; five grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; two great grandchildren; thirteen step-great grandchildren; one brother; three sisters; three nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at Providence Hospice for their care of our loved one.

Memorials may be made to Providence Healthcare or Providence Hospice.

He was a good man and a wonderful father. I will do my best to remember the lessons he taught me and I will always think of him when I am in my garden, watching a race or eating Blue Bell ice cream. My life will not be the same without him.

To my granddaughters, great grandchildren, Michael, Larry, Lisa and Pauline. I am so very sorry for the loss of Rich in your lives. I did not know him well, but he was a nice guy. I lived next door to Richard for almost 20 years. He watched my son grow up. I could not have asked for a better neighbor and friend. He will be missed but I know he is in a better place.
