Ray F. Davidson of Waco passed away peacefully at his home July 5, 2023.

Visitation: 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Thursday, July 20, 2023 at Lake Shore Funeral Home
Ray will be laid to rest at Head Springs Cemetery in Belfast, Tennessee.

Ray was the son of Raymond Clyde Davidson and Hazel Shirley Davidson. He was born March 8, 1943 in Stillwater, Oklahoma. He attended Stillwater schools, and received his Associates, Bachelors, and Masters of Science degrees from Oklahoma State University. Ray was an Eagle scout, Navy veteran, and college instructor. He retired as an Associate Professor at Texas State Technical College.

Ray was an exceptionally gifted teacher. He began teaching while in the Navy, and taught at Oklahoma State University, and Columbia State Community College in Columbia Tennessee, before moving to Waco in 1978. Throughout his long teaching career, his first priority was his students. He took his responsibility to help his students excel very seriously. He desired to make a real difference in their lives.

Ray enjoyed riding motorcycles, target shooting, and history. He truly loved to ride, and even though he had to give it up in his later years, he missed it very much.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Hazel Davidson. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Pam of Waco; brother-in-law Terry Wilburn (Vickie) of Cornersville, Tennessee; several cousins, including Glenda (Jim) Womack of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and precious friend Debbie Wilkey of Mascot, Tennessee.

Ray’s life can be honored by donations to the American Lung Association, the Waco Animal Shelter, or Fuzzy Friends

Place of Service: Lake Shore Funeral Home , 5201 Steinbeck Bend; Waco, TX 76708

Pam, so sorry for your loss, and for all of ours as well. Ray was one of a kind and he will never fully know the impact he had on so many lives, which affected our children, too. He truly cared about his students and we were all better for having known him. His ability to teach was unmatched by any of my professors later at my university, and I will always be indebted to him for changing the path of my life. Pam, someday, remind me to tell you about our Columbia State class field trip to Huntsville, AL!!! Rest in peace, Sir. Well done, “Uncle Ray,” well done.

Dear Pam – we are sad to hear of Raymond’s passing. He was my older cousin and I remember the fun times as children. I always looked up to Raymond because he was so intelligent and I remember vividly watching him play his trombone in the Oklahoma State marching band during the homecoming parades. He was a great man and you were his wonderful wife. Love and Prayers to you!
