Michael Neil “Mike” Barr, 59, of Hewitt, passed away Monday, April 22, 2019.
Funeral Service: 11AM, Friday, April 26, at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Robinson with the Rev. Jim Daniels and the Rev. Larry Wymore officiating.
Visitation will be held thirty minutes prior to the service.
Mike was born July 17, 1959 in Kilgore to Neil and Carol (Sanders) Barr. He attended Cameron schools, graduating from Yoe High School in 1977. He married Cynthia Ann Taylor on April 4, 1981 in Waco. After earning his Associates Degree from TSTI, he went on to work in commercial printing. He was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church and served as Youth Director for four years.
Mike was a jokester and was known for making people laugh. He loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He did not let 22 years of Multiple Sclerosis dictate his life. When all he had left was the use of his mouth, he used it to build up others.
He was preceded in death by his father, Neil Barr.
Survivors include his wife, Cindy Barr; daughter, Jennifer Barr; son, Matthew Barr; granddaughter, Mikayla Hutson, “the light of his life”; mother, Carol Barr; brother, Jason Barr and wife, Becky; sister, Tracy Phelps and husband, Bill; four nieces, one nephew; three great-nieces; and step-brother, Paul Mathews.
The family would like to acknowledge a special thank you to the nurses and caregivers at the Atrium of Bellmead for their love and care for Mike.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Cornerstone Baptist Church.
When asked about what Mike would want to be said about himself, he replied: “Not much is to be said about me, but my Cinny Bear’s commitment, sacrifice and her love through our journey. “

I’m so sorry for your loss,but I know Mike is at home now with our Lord.Cindy you and the family are in my prayers.
He was a funny guy and very goid friend he will dearly bwe missed .My prayers got out Cindy and Jennifer and family.
I was Mike Barr’s nurse for a while when I worked at the Atrium of Bellmead. He always had a bright personality. Never let Multiple Sclerosis get him down. Scared me with those fake roaches. My prayers are with Cindy, Jennifer, Matt, Makayla, and the rest of the Barr family.
My sincere condolences to Cindy and his whole family. Room 604 wont be the same without you,going to miss you so much Barr.

I am so sorry for your loss. I had the privilege of taking care of mike for the past 5 months and every day i walked in his room he had a smile on his face, no matter how he felt. I will always cherish his sense of humor and above all his kindness. He saw the good in everyone and made a huge impact in my life. Room 604 will never be the same. He was loved by so many and touched everyones heart. Rest in peace my friend.. cindy my thought and prayers are with you all. If there is anything i can do please let me know.
I am so sorry for your loss. It is a loss for world. Mike was a terrific person to all and he will be missed. He endured so much but his spirit remained strong. Now he is at peace. My prayers are with his family. God be with you all.

We should all be so blessed to have a man like Mike in our lives. A man who reminded us not to take life too seriously, as it is only a temporary stop on the way to an eternal destination. A man who never lost his sense of humor, and faced each and every challenge with an incredible, unbreakable spirit. A man who made sure the world knew how much he valued his wife, children, and family. A man who knew how to make you laugh, even if you were rolling your eyes at the same time, but also knew how to pray with you and offer strength and comfort when things were difficult. Mike exemplified love- love of God, love of life, love of family and friends. Yeah… we were blessed. Thanks for everything, Mike. We’ll see ya when we get there. Love, Kasia Bell

Mr. Barr the last seven years have been very eventful. I have loved every moment of the jokes and all the scares. I am very glad to have the pleasure of being in your life. You were one of a kind. Though everything you have been through you always had a smile on your face and never let this illness get you down. Rest in heaven my friend till we meet again. LeAnn Jenkins
