Melva Kay Tremar, 67, of Waco, passed away Thursday, February 13, 2020, surrounded by family and friends at Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest Medical Center in Waco.
Visitation: 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, February 18, at Lake Shore Funeral Home
Funeral service: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 18, at Lake Shore Funeral Home with Pastor Charles Howard of New Beginnings Christian Fellowship officiating
Burial: Moore Cemetery.
Kay was born October 24, 1952 in the country side of Dyersberg, Tennessee to Elizabeth Jane Templeton who proceeded her in death in 2015.
She married her husband James Wesley Tremar on April 2, 1985, and joined their families together. For 35 years she worked as a waitress at Casa De Castillo, serving and taking care of others. This was something she loved to do and it showed. She delivered many meals over the years to family, friends, and old customers. She always thought of others, and wanted to make sure they could eat a good home cooked meal.
Her life changed as she accepted Christ in 2010. Her love for God grew and became a shining virtue to all that met her. She cared for their heart and soul. She loved her church family and prayed for them earnestly. She was proud to be a part of New Beginnings Christian Fellowship Church.
Her love for her family was unconditional. She was always checking on her children and grandchildren and making sure they knew how much she loved them and thought of them. She stayed strong for her husband and was a devoted wife. She loved him more than words could express. When she spoke the words, “ I love you” they were truth and she meant them with all her heart.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Elizabeth Templeton; her sister, Brenda Giudice; her brother, Ben Moore; her son, Richard Gentry; her grandchild, Chelsea Gentry; her great grandchild, Zane Gentry.
Kay is survived by her husband, James Tremar; two of her brothers, James Russell and wife, Shirley, Harold Cullman; two of her sisters, Alma Baker and husband, Jerry, Sandra Muccheon and husband, John; her sons, Carlos Gentry, Merle Gentry and wife Monica; her daughter in-law, Tiffany Gentry; her stepson, Randy Tremar; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Dear Kay, you always treated me so kindly and lovingly. You always made me feel so welcome in your home and part of the family. I know that you and Rick are together again and receiving so many blessings. You will be missed by so many and thought of often. I miss you already. I’m glad I made it to the hospital in time to see you. I will always love you! Thank you!
My mother Dorothy Craven loved you, as did our entire family. Your courage and determination were inspiring to all. May you Rest In Peace.
My thoughts and prayers go out to you all. Kay was part of my life for over 13 years. We had many good laughs together either shopping, watching movies or just shooting the breeze, I cherish all of them. May God be with y’all during this difficult time.
