Max Shaw, 77, of Satin, passed away at home surrounded by his family Tuesday, March 19, 2019

Memorial Service: 2:00 PM March 30, 2019 at Cedar Springs Baptist Church 146 CR 336 Rosebud, TX 76570, with Pastor Rick Finley officiating.

Flower deliveries may be taken to the church Friday, March 29th from 3-5 PM.

Max was the first of seven children born August 17, 1941 to Lois Edward and Ruby Pearl (Smith) Shaw. Max grew up going to Crawford schools. He enjoyed being spoiled by his grandparents who lived next door.  As a teenager, he joined the US Army.  When he came home from the service, he went back to spending many hours in the woods with his dad and brothers coon hunting.  He coon hunted all of his life until his health deteriorated to the point he couldn’t walk the woods anymore.

He married his sweetheart, Linda Stimmel, May 27, 1968 and their journey in life began together. They had two children recently celebrated their 50th anniversary.

Max cherished simple things like living out in the country and sitting on the porch watching birds. It didn’t take a lot of material things to make him happy. If he had a roof over his head, family close by, a small garden, and a few chickens to give him fresh eggs to eat, he was content.  Max never met a stranger. If you knew him at all, you would know that he loved to talk and talk and talk. If you came to visit him he would follow you out to the car still talking while you were trying to leave. It was hard to get away.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Margaret Shaw; brother, Kenneth Shaw; and in-laws, Willie and Evelyn Stimmel; brother- in-law, Bill Pirkle; and sister-in-law, Janis Stimmel.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Shaw; children, Dwayne Shaw and Carla Smith and husband, Dennis; grandchildren, Cory Shaw and wife, Brittney, Joshua LeBron, and Daila Lamoureux and husband, Rob, Chastity Harrison and husband, Justin; great-grandchildren, Fallyn Grace Shaw, Caden Brave Shaw and Izaiah Ramon Lamoureux , Abigail Lyn Harrison; brothers and sisters, Oneitta Fortenberry and husband, Charlie, Darlene Shaw, Billy Jack Shaw and wife, Debbie, Reba Arnett and husband, David, Becky George and husband, Dorsey, Jimmy Stimmel, Clara Pirkle, Brenda Evans, and Robert Stimmel and wife, Tillie; and numerous aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

The morning he left this world, Linda said he told her he was ready for heaven and to tell his family he loved them all. He was loved by his family and will be truly missed by all his loved ones.

Condolence from Oneitta Fortenberry on March 24th, 2019 8:42 pm

I love that brother of mine! He and I were very close knit and we loved to talk about the Lord Jesus Christ, together! It was such a joy to my heart to know that he and his wife, Linda, always read the Bible and prayed together every nigh before going to bed. A family that prays together, stays together. I will miss him so very much, but my heart is happy in knowing that he belonged to the Lord and was looking forward to being in heaven with God and other family members & friends who had committed their hearts and lives to the Lord! Yes, his great big family will surely be missing our Max Edward Shaw, especially his wife, Linda; the children; and grand & great grand children. We need to keep them in our prayers. It will be a daily missing with their hearts hurting so very much, and crying out to God for help. He will surely help them! ( Psalm 34:18 )
