Justin “JJ” Johnson, 35, passed away September 17, 2020 in Orlando, Florida.
Service Information:
Memorial service will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, September 24, at Lake Shore Funeral Home. Due to COVID-19, limited seating will be available. For those unable to attend, the service will be livestreamed Click Here to View the Live Stream.
Justin was born August 9, 1985 in Waco, to Billy and Tina Johnson. He grew up in China Spring and graduated from China Spring High School in 2003. During high school he participated in the select choir with Susan Thrift as instructor. Justin loved his friends and family and always made sure the people he loved were ok. Justin graduated from TSTC and moved to Austin to work as a Biomedical Tech. In recent years, Justin became the Director and praise and worship leader of Ranch on the Rock Recovery Center in Sierra Blanca, Texas. Along with good friend Joshua Hart, they both worked hard to keep the ranch going. He impacted many lives while he was serving God and the people in Sierra Blanca. He has touched so many lives all over the world that he will never be forgotten.
Justin was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, JoAnn McClain and paternal grandparents, Bill and Nita Johnson.
Survivors include his parents, Billy and Tina Johnson of China Spring; brother, Cody Johnson of Irving; grandparents, Tick and Karen Featherstone of Waco; uncle, Bill McClain; aunt, Teri Thrash; cousins, Dillon, Devan, and Brent and a host of other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Justin’s name to the Ranch on the Rock Recovery Center, 201 W El Paso St, Sierra Blanca, TX 79851.

Prayers for the entire family and all his friends. JJ was such a sweet and true soul. He will be missed by many!
In reading all of the posts, it has just confirmed what I already knew. JJ was a wonderful young man that was loved by many. He was devoted to helping any and every one that crossed his path. His touch blessed so many. I know my family was blessed just by knowing Justin. His sweet soul and devotion to others will never be forgotten. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

JJ was such a big part of our lives out here in Sierra Blanca…we will miss his smile, his love for this community, and most of all his heart!! He was always more of a brother than just a great friend!! Prayers to the family! May Jesus heal your heart and surround you with his light!

The first thing that pops into my kind as I reflect on JJ is his smile. A smile is a powerful tool of Kindness that helps heal and softens hard hearts and I know he helped in that mission!

We were just so incredibly sorry to hear of Justin’s passing. We are praying for your family as you make your way through this very devastating & dark time. My dearest condolences to JJ’s family. He was such a great person with such a wonderful character. He was a leader who led with his heart. God came first in his life and it was plain to see it. He always brought a smile to your face and made you laugh. He was a big part of Ranch on the Rock and the community of Sierra Blanca. We will miss you, sweet friend. I remember Cody so well from his years at CS. He was mischievous and loved to make us laugh as well as having a sweet spirit. My condolences and prayers.
Billy, Tina and Cody, Justin was a ray of light where ever he went, spreading joy and happiness in a way that only Justin could do. A great sense of humor, so intelligent, and he had a wonderful heart. It was a pleasure for us to have him visit in our home, he was always so polite and enjoyable. Justin will be dearly missed.

I can’t imagine the impact of the loss of of jj on his family, I can, however, feel and see the devastation in the community of Sierra Blanca due to the loss of this great man, my best friend, Justin “JJ” Johnson. I only knew Justin for 4 yrs. I am 50 yrs old and only have 2 or 3 people in my life that I call true friends JJ was one. He helped me find my way to the lord in so many ways. He was the person that drove me to Dallas to do service work for a hospital for addicts. I met a girl there that drive from Houston to meet me. She is now my wife. Thank you buddy:) Karri and I talked to JJ every week. He was my best friend and I miss him dearly. Karri and I want to wish Tina, Billy and Cody our condolence’s for there loss. Sorry to hear of your loving son, what a shock it was to see this obit. Was randomly looking as another China Springian Randy Mitchell died of heart attack while fishing with wife Linda at Possum Kingdom. 😢 my condolences to yalls Family.
