John "Pee Wee" Wachtendorf, Sr., 64, of Waco, passed away Friday, January 4, 2013. Funeral services will be Monday, January 7th at 7pm, at Lake Shore Funeral Home Chapel with David Swatek officiating. Visitation will be 4-6pm Sunday, January 6th, at Lake Shore Funeral Home, 5201 Steinbeck Bend in Waco. Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online Guest Book at www.LakeShoreFuneralHome.com.

John was born on September 5, 1948 to John Fritz and Alma (Selzer) Wachtendorf in Yoakum. In 1967, he graduated from Waco High School and joined the Air Force during the Vietnam War. On March 14, 1970, John married Sheila Perley in Canada. Together they moved back to Waco, and John worked in the finance industry for 35 years, including Atlas Credit, and later retired in 2012. John was a devoted family man, and was also devoted to his faith and convictions of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He also enjoyed cooking.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, Paul and Barbara Perley; and one niece, Kim Fort Lester.

He is survived by his wife, Sheila Wachtendorf of Waco; a son, John Wachtendorf, Jr. and his wife Rosa of Leander; a daughter, Stacy Imperial and husband George of Florida; grandchildren, Zabrina, Angel, Phillip, A.J., and Sheldon "Hot Rod"; great grandson, Malakhi; sisters, Virgie Fort and husband Thomas of Elm Mott, and Sue Lawhn and husband Mark of McGregor; brothers, Ken Wachtendorf of Arkansas, Lee Wachtendorf and wife Brenda of Waco, Wilbert "Walky" Wachtendorf and wife Donna of Hewitt, and Wayne Wachtendorf and wife Wanda of Robinson; and numerous other relatives.
