Moore J

Jerry Carl Moore, 73, went home to his Lord and Savior Tuesday, November 11, 2014.

Services: 10AM Saturday, November 15th at Lake Shore Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Woody Wilson and Rev. Chris Johnson officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Waco Memorial Park.

Visitation: 6 to 8PM Friday, November 14 at Lake Shore Funeral Home, 5201 Steinbeck Bend in Waco.

Jerry was born in Dover, Florida, to Carl Franklin and Callie Alline Moore on August 25, 1941. He attended Turkey Creek High School in Plant City, Florida, and joined the United States Air Force in 1958. Jerry was stationed at James Connally Air Force Base in 1961. Waco, Texas became home when he met and married the love of his life, Betty Faye Haddock Moore, on June 8, 1962. He retired from Texas State Technical College in 1997 after 24 years and served as an instructor and chairman of the Diesel Mechanics Program. He served for many years as a Deacon at Chalk Bluff Baptist Church.

Jerry was the best Husband, Dad, Papa, Son, Brother, Uncle, and Friend to many people. He was a Christ-centered mentor, encourager, strengthener, comforter, and supporter whom everyone could count on to be there no matter what life placed in the path. Jerry had a twinkle in his eyes that made others want to spend more time with him and listen to his stories and words of wisdom.

His parents; in-laws, Vernon and Ersa Haddock; and his son, Stephen Allen Moore, preceded Jerry in death.

Family was the most important thing to Jerry and he cherished and loved his wife, Betty, for more than 52 years. He is survived by his wife Betty of Lacy Lakeview; his daughter, Kimberly Faye Moore Denman of China Spring; and his two sons, Rev. Jeffrey Kevin Moore and wife Catherine of Edna, and Rev. Jerry Chris Moore and wife Becca of Navarro Mills. He leaves behind four grandchildren he loved dearly, Jessica Faye Denman, Nicholas Harrison Moore, Megan Lyn Moore, and Joshua Caden Moore. He is also survived by his siblings, Betty Ann Bryant of Georgia, Monteen Dunn, Bobby Moore, and Diann Copeland, all of Florida. He also leaves behind his brother-in-law Ray Haddock and wife Joyce, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, former coworkers, and church family.

The family wishes to thank everyone for your thoughts and prayers.

Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online Guest Book at www.LakeShoreFuneralHome.com.

Condolence from Stephen Picha on November 13th, 2014 10:07 am

So many days/afternoons that we played at/outside your house – quite often around the time that Jerry would come home from work. Jerry helped make a welcoming home/space where the neighborhood kids could come and and play – our world needs more of that today. Our family holds your family in prayer. To die a man of integrity is a beautiful thing. Peace,
Stephen, Mary Jo, Grace & Luke Picha
