I am saddened for the friends and family of Jeff Lyon. His loss is way too sudden and way too early. I came to know Jeff in the early 90s while serving as superintendent of Bynum ISD. He was a deputy that put the best interest, safety, and development of the young people of Hill County foremost. As Jeff grew in his law enforcement roles, so did my respect and admiration for him. Jeff became a community leader often looked to and leaned on for direction and support. Jeff lead Hill County through some tumultuous times while helping build a strong foundation for future community growth. Jeff’s charismatic personality was reflected in his warmth, his sense of humor and his endearing references about his wife and family. Jeff Lyon made my life richer and I am grateful to have known him. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

WOW! I’m at a loss for words. I had been following Jeffro’s updates on facebook and thought the worst of the COVID was over with for him. No matter how long it had been since we last saw each other, it didn’t seem like any time had passed at all. Jeff was always cutting up and a fun guy to have around. He was always so kind and treated us with respect at KHBR & The Reporter – he would show up to give us the report FIRST…..not wait for us to hear it from others. And, for that…..he earned a HUGE amount of respect from us. He will be missed by all!

I am so sad to here this. I never met nicer people, until I met the Lyons. We have stayed in touch the past almost 7 years. There is not a day that I get a laugh out of CAPTAIN NO PANTS, lol. I will miss your humor. Rest In Peace sweet friend. We will see each other on the other side.

I am saddened to hear this. I met Jeffro almost 7 years ago on a cruise and have remained in touch with he and Leigh Ann. I never met nicer people. Not a day went by that I didn’t get to enjoy his humor. He will be missed. Rest In Peace my friend until we meet on the other side.

It broke my heart to hear of Jeff’s passing. I was monitoring his updates from the hospital and prayed and hoped that he would recover, and the news was a shock. I remember our time together with the Scout Troop, and how he was an awesome County Sheriff. He will be missed – keeping his family in our thoughts and prayers…

I knew Jeff for many, many years. He was a good man just like his brother and a good friend. Our prayers are with the family during this difficult time.

I had the honor of working on several county wide emergency preparedness committees with him. He truly cared about the county and its people and was responsible for many disaster protocols still in place. With my husband Bill Bentley I had the honor of wording on his campaign for Sheriff and learn how very smart and funny he was. Bill thought so highly of him as his boss and has is friend. Our prayers go out to his family. Know that he was very much appreciated, respected and loved.

Everyone at the IKO family will miss Jeff. I don’t think I’ve ever met a more upbeat person in my life. He was truly an inspiration to all. God bless you all during this time of grief.

I am truly sorry that you lost the love of your life I havent forgotten how hard you love and I know that Jeff was a wonderful person and he will be missed . Take comfort knowing you and you family now have an armed angel watching you always. I will check on you through FB private message in a few days. I will have you in my prayers my friend. I know your heart is broken.

I knew Jeff and Mike both. Both were great men. I served in Waco with the Texas DPS for 30 + plus years. I knew Mike through a mutual friend Jay Owen while he was employed by Waco PD. Mike worked off duty at 25th Street Safeway as a theft prevention officer, where Jay was employed. Later met Jeff when he was employed with Robinson PD and then much later when he had been elected as Hill County Sheriff. Got called to a big truck wreck near Hillsboro , Jeff was there. I had a nice visit with him that day. I have lost to this date 3 good police officer friends to Covid 19. All taken too early. My sincere sympathies to the families that have to live on without the love of their lives.
