Janie Lou Stromberg, 61, of Waco, passed away peacefully in her home the morning of June 29, 2020.

Graveside Service:  1:00 p.m Thursday, July 9, at Waco Memorial Park with Pastor Charlie Fuller officiating

She was known by all who met her to be a kind and genuine woman that would do anything she could for her children and grandchildren.  It was not uncommon for families of friends to see her as an extension of their own.  Born June 16, 1959 to Mildred and Jessie Wilson just outside Chicago, Illinois, Janie graduated Irving High in Irving, Texas in 1978.  Soon afterwards she met and married Mark Stromberg. They made Waco their home to raise their four children, Jeff and wife, Eva, Krystle and husband, Michael, Austin, and Jessica and husband, Hector, who loved her dearly; and her seven grandchildren: Savannah, Cashton, Jayden, Trae, Natalie, Gabriella and Vanessa who will miss her for their entire lives.

She worked diligently for American Income Life for 16 years where she planned to retire after 20 years.  She loved celebrating every holiday and birthday for the children and treasured all they would become and achieve.  She was never above dressing up for Halloween or taking long drives across state and country to be there for important events for her children and grandchildren.  She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, wax museums, American history, collecting movie memorabilia (most notably “Gone with the Wind”), long trips on the road, and anything else she could do with her twin sister.  The strength and love we have for each other is because of the unbreakable love she had for us.

She is survived by her husband, Mark; mother, Mildred Wilson; children, Jeff and wife, Eva, Krystle and husband, Michael, Austin, and Jessica and husband, Hector; seven grandchildren, Savannah, Cashton, Jayden, Trae, Natalie, Gabriella and Vanessa; six brothers and sisters, Elaine, Wendell, Nelda, Ronald, her twin sister, Janet, of whom she spent every day of her life as her best friend, and her youngest sister, Darla.

When I think back to my adolescence, you have been the mother figure that comes to my mind. You secretly taught me how to ride Krystle’s bicycle when you realized I didn’t know how and was embarrassed about it and kept my secret safe. You got me my first cell phone (your daughter and I never would have passed economics had you not supplied us with texting capabilities lol). Getting shooed out of the kitchen when you had your baking going, for you to turn around and sneak us some anyway haha. Oh, and something else that comes to mind…when I learned the utter importance of your saying, “shoes at the door” which we we all quickly learned when you guys had the new carpet put in 😂.
You are a rare soul Janie. Genuine to your bones, a kindness that radiated from your hugs and smiles, and the most selfless women I have had the pleasure to know. If only you knew what kind of impact you made in my life.
Love you.

She was a wonderful woman whom always had a smile. A wonderful mom and grandma and a wonderful friend. Will always miss the time shared at lunch walking around a store or the mall just to visit and chat while getting away from work. Getting to know her kids and sister was a blessing. Will always cherish the times we had together. Prayers and blessing to her family.
