Harold Lloyd Songstad passed away March 31, 2015.
Memorial Service: 10:00 a.m. Friday April 3, 2015 at Lake Shore Funeral Home Chapel
Harold was born on February 11, 1929 in Minot, North Dakota to Lloyd and Alice (Demo) Songstad. He was raised and attended school in Max, North Dakota and often went by his nickname Buffalo. He served with the US Army, Air Force and Navy during World War II. He married Marie Fresquez in 1948. During their 30 years of marriage they had eight children. Harold pursued a career as a truck driver and a business owner. Harold married Dolly on August 10, 1979. They celebrated 35 years of marriage and had three children. He retired from his businesses in 1990. Harold never met a stranger and enjoyed spending time with family and friends and loved his Texas Longhorns.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, LaVerta; two grandchildren, Dustin, and Reanna; and a great grandson, Jackson.
Survivors include his wife, Dolly; his children, George, LaVera, Raynelle, Cindy, Karen, Kelly, Keith, Loretta, Harold II, Jeniffer and Chelsey; 20 grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren.
The family would like to acknowledge a special thank you to Ronnie McKnight for her personal care and friendship and to Providence Hospice for their professional care and service. Thank you all for your prayers and love at this time.

Oh Dolly, we are so sorry for the loss of your sweet husband. Please know you are in our thoughts and prayers.
My sympathies to the family. I am a meat cutter at HEB. Harold and I spoke daily at the coffee shop at HEB and many times at the flea market. I enjoyed our friendship. I will miss our conversations but know he is in a great place. Prayers for God’s comfort.
Want to let you and your family know I am thinking of you all during this time. Thank you for allowing Providence Hospice to come in to your home and take care of your loved one. He always had a great smile and happy to see you. I am so thankful I got to take care of him and enjoy his sense of humor.

Even though we didn’t get to see him often, it was always fun when he came around. He was quite a character. Used to enjoy stories of him and his growing up. Uncle Herbert would get us laughing with all the funny things he would do. RIP Buffalo. Love to you Dolly and the rest of the family.
