Granville “Grant” Earl Parsons

Granville “Grant” Earl Parsons, 93, died  Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at Ridgecrest Retirement and Health Care in Waco, Texas.

Funeral Service: 2pm, Friday, August 9, at Lake Shore Funeral Home. Burial ,with full military honors, will be at Peoria Cemetery.

He was born June 19, 1926, in Hillsboro, Texas, to Earl and Rose (Brown) Parsons. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1944 and served in World War II. He lived in Kansas, Nebraska and Texas throughout his life. He opened the original Cow Town Club in Dodge City, Kansas. He was also the owner and operator of GE Parsons Construction and was known to be one of the best finishers around.

He loved Football, Horse Racing and his furry companion Buddy.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Nona Villa, Nelda Gillaspie, and Bonnie McCreight; and his best friend Buddy.

Granville is survived by his children, Sherry Blair, of Corunna, Michigan, Jan Scarborough, of Houston, Texas, Kasey Byrd, of Kirtland, New Mexico, and Andy Parsons and wife Heather, of Dodge City, Kansas; grandchildren, Kevin Blair and wife Stephanie, Kelly Scarrow and husband Jeff, Keli Dovalina and husband Jason, Remington Koehn, Kati Tucker and husband Bryan, Riley Parsons and wife Lexi, and Regan Parsons; great-grandchildren, Kain Blair, Blaine, Brennen and Beau Dovalina, Ronald and Randi Tucker, Presley “Pretzel” Parsons, Kole and coming soon Aurora Scarrow; and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers,  the family suggests memorials be made to Texas Home Health & Hospice or the Waco Humane Society both in care of Lake Shore Funeral Home & Crematory, 5201 Steinbeck Bend, Waco, Texas, 76708.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Grant’s family! We enjoyed Grant on Saturday morning breakfasts and his presence in the park with his beloved “Buddy!” May he rest in perfect peace with the one that died and rose again, defeating death so that we may have eternal life!

What a man. I loved Grant, we just clashed from time to time. I was recruited by Grant to be kithen manager and executive chief at the cowtown club. Loved him! But we butted heads! However we had a good run! Also JO if you read this just know that the twin i named after you is a nationally ranked martial artist! Love yall and love Grant!
