D’Mel D. Cantrell of Elm Mott Passed away on Sunday, July 31, 2011, at Providence Hospital from a ruptured aortic aneurysm. Per her instructions, no service will be held. Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online Guest Book at www.LakeShoreFuneralHome.com.
D’Mel was born in Mt. Calm, Texas, on November 8, 1942, to William E. and Verna Lane Danford. She spent her childhood years in the Mt. Calm area and attended Hubbard schools and Hillsboro High School. She married Ronald P. Cantrell on August 5, 1960 in Elm Mott, Texas. D’Mel was the Manager of Local 72 Electricians Federal Credit Union when she retired in 2004.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William E. and Verna Lane Danford, and a sister, Billie Jean Simecek. She is survived by her husband, Ronald P. Cantrell of Elm Mott; Son, Christopher Cantrell of Waco; Daughter, Glynnis Gaines and her husband Steve Gaines of Temple; and daughter Heather Cantrell and her husband Shannon Patton of Houston. Survivors also include two grandchildren, Christopher Gaines of Dallas and Matthew Gaines of Temple; nephew John Simecek of Hillsboro, and many cousins.

We are so saddened to hear the news of Mel’s passing. I have so many wonderful memories of times in your home that Mel made so special with her smile and sense of humor. She will live on in all of our hearts.

I am sorry for your and family’s loss. Mel was such a sweet lady and a pleasure to be around. I wish it had not been so long since seeing either of you. My prayer go with you.

I’m so sorry for your loss. D’Mel was a very sweet lady and will be missed.
Mel, you were one tough lady. I’m sorry your later years were not as golden as they should’ve been, but I know you brought much joy to your husband and children. We will miss you.

Ronnie I am so sorry to hear of Mel’s death. She was always delightful to talk to and I know this is a terrible loss beyond words.
I am truly sorry for your loss. I pray the sure hope as found in the bible will bring comfort to your hearts. "God promises that all those found in his memory will be resurrected.
