Danny Mulkey lived the most infectious life. He accomplished many things during his 72 years on earth, but having lived a generous and beautiful life is his lasting legacy.

Danny’s life began in Jacksonville, TX on September 25, 1951. While he was born in Texas and came back as quickly as he could, most of his childhood was spent in Arkansas with his parents, Hoyt and Rose Mulkey, and his siblings Delany, Rob, Don, and Kevin. Even from a young age, Danny was passionate about other countries & cultures. As a child he was obsessed with maps, often sneaking them into his bed at night to look at them by flashlight. He would later go on to minister in over 30 countries across five continents, impacting thousands with his life and the message of Jesus.
Danny graduated from Baylor University in 1973 with a B.A. in law. Instead of pursuing a law career, he briefly worked for the government before jumping into ministry because these were clearly more lucrative professions than the law.
At the age of 22, he fell in love with the girl who would stay with him for the rest of his life. Danny and Kathy had a love for the ages that never faded, and he loved her until his last breath. Along with their children, Ethan and Elizabeth, the Mulkey family served Jesus together in over ten countries.
Despite his global legacy, family was the undeniable priority of Danny’s life. His grandchildren, Sophie, Tait, Kevin, Ines, Clayton, Tyler, and Kate could make Danny’s face light up like nothing else. Jesus was the core of Danny’s life and to be with him was to see the hands and feet of Jesus at work. Now he is finally able to see him face to face.
Danny’s life has impacted thousands through his servant’s heart, sense of adventure, and humor. When we see him next in Heaven he will have already found the best views, the best food, and most likely be best friends with St. Patrick. Our loss is heaven’s gain, and Danny’s legacy will live on through family & friends until we are all together again with Jesus.

Loved to sit by Danny at church because he had such a great voice. He was always friendly and had a smile even when he didn’t feel good. He and Kathy have been friends for many years. We will miss him.

Kathy, Although I never met Danny, since we reconnected at a class reunion and became fb friends, I have enjoyed seeing the family pictures you have shared and hearing stories of your family’s very interesting life. I am heartbroken for you at your husband’s death. I have had you both on my prayer list for years and will continue to pray for you and your family. 🙏❤️
So sorry to hear of Danny’s death. I knew Danny from during the days his family was at Berclair Baptist Church in Memphis. What I remember most was he called my mother “Edith” from Edith Bunker in All in the Family. My mother’s name was Ernestine Bondurant and she reminded Danny of Edith. There were so many laughs over a large button Danny gave mom with Edith’s name and picture on it. “Thanks for the Memories”. Your family will be in my thoughts and prayers.
Danny and family were neighbors of ours in Pine Bluff, Arkansas until their move around 1964. Danny and my brother Grady(Joe as second name used then) were big bubuddies playing together, checking out the wooded area behind them, imagining a lot snd enjoying each other un until going in at dark to eat. Times were different. Friendships were special. Memories were established and treasured. I have kept up with Delaney, Danny ‘s sister, through the years and kept up with the Mulkey family. Danny was nice enough to send my mom special wishes on her 80th birthday 16 years ago. My heart is heavy for this loss. My prayers are to all as you celebrate his homecoming with his family and his Lord. God bless.

My sister (Jackie, above) tells you of my relationship with Danny. As young boys in Pine Bluff, AR. My lasting mental pics are the two of us at about the age of seven riding our bikes as we went “exploring.” Danny’s dog Polly and my dog Tippy running by us. What fun we had!! And I remember a double exposure pic where Danny looked like a ghost in the background. What a hoot!
I am pleased to learn about Danny’s adult life and his faithful service to Jesus in these Condolences. But knowing Danny when I knew him was a joy I will never forget. What a blessing it was.

Dear Kathy Mulkey and Family,
We are so very sorry for your loss; you and your family have our deepest condolences. It is our hope and prayer that you are all able to find peace and comfort now and, in the days, to come. Mr. Mulkey seemed like he touched a lot of lives; he will be missed by many.

David and I send our love and deepest condolences to Kathy and the family. Danny was an encourager, loving friend, and inspiration to engage the world in evangelism. As a life group leader, he engaged our hearts in Antioch and showed up true friendship!
