Bobbie Kelly, 83, of Waco, passed away Wednesday, February 6, 2019.

Wake: 5-7 PM Friday, February 15, 2019 at Lake Shore Funeral Home in Waco

Celebration of Life: 11:00 AM Saturday, February 16, 2019 at Toliver Chapel Missionary Baptist Church with The Rev. Dr. Jimmy D. Hunter officiating.

Viewing: one hour prior to the service.

Bobbie Jean Kelly went peacefully to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 6, 2019.  She was born in Hewitt, Texas on September 8, 1935, the first of two children to the late Ishmon Edmonson Sr. and Olivia Richardson Edmonson.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Constable Jesse Kelly; father and mother, Ishmon Edmonson Sr. and Olivia Richardson Edmonson; one brother, Ishmon Edmonson Jr.

Bobbie attended Waco Schools and graduated from A.J. Moore High School in 1953. She earned her Bachelor and Master Degree in Guidance and Counseling from Prairie View A & M University, Prairie View, Texas. She was an educator and taught school over 38 years in Chilton, Hubbard, Waco, and Connally Independent School Districts.

Bobbie was introduced to the Lord at an early age and united with Toliver Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in 1947under the late Rev. O.L. Hegmon and remained very faithful until her health declined.  She loved to sing and was a member of the Sanctuary and Women’s Choirs. She was a member of Sunday School Class #3, served on the culinary staff for Bible School, and a long-term member of the Spirit of Phoebe.

Bobbie Jean or Queen “B” as she was affectionately called by her children, had a zest for cooking and baking.  Her favorite past time was watching The Food Network.  She would often cook her signature dishes for family and friends: Red Beans, Enchiladas, and her favorite, 7-Up Cake. She truly had a passion for the culinary arts and would often give advice on how to prepare meals. Everything she cooked was homemade! She enjoyed helping others and would often say, “ If you want me to cook or bake you something, just let me know, I don’t mind.”  Or, “I have done my good deed for the day!”

Bobbie leaves to cherish her precious memories: her loving and devoted daughters, Kelva A. Kelly of Sugar Land, Texas, Sherry Jamerson (George) of Houston, Texas; two sons, Darrell Kelly of Mansfield, Ohio, and Larry Kelly of Austin, Texas; five grandchildren, Michael D. Gibson, Sr., (Sherrell) of Houston, Texas; Sirika Clayton of Euless, Texas; Darrell Kelly II of Houston, Texas; Germaine Jamerson (Erika) of Houston, Texas; Kennedy Kelly of Marion, OH; 10 great grandchildren; a devoted nephew, Howard Alexander Jr.; devoted friends, Mrs. Henrietta Napier, Mrs. Ann Rector, Mrs. Barbara Carter, Mrs. Minnie Pearl Thomas, Mrs. Rosetta Hooks, and Nancy Vidrine; a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members, and friends.
