Bob Neilson, most commonly known as Mosheim Bob and Grandpa, passed away peacefully in his sleep the morning of October 19, 2021 at Providence Hospice in Waco, Texas at the age of 91.

On January 22, 1930, Bob was born to Robert Henry and Florene Miles Neilson at Hillcrest Hospital in Waco, Texas. Bob discovered his love of the outdoors and horses while spending summers of his youth with his aunt and uncle in Mosheim.

He was a graduate of Waco High, then studied Business at Texas A&M before transferring and graduating from Baylor University. Bob served his country and later honorably discharged as a Lieutenant in the United States Air Force from 1954 – 1956. He then joined GMAC and worked in the finance department until retirement in 1983. Between work and retirement, you could find Bob at go-kart tracks around the country supporting his son, Gregg’s, racing.

After retirement Bob rekindled his love for the outdoors by spending time in Mosheim with his horses and dogs. He enjoyed going on trail rides with Patches, hunting and fishing with friends, and frequenting Valley Mills Winery.

His granddaughters’ fondest memories include many spring breaks and summers in Mosheim waking up to Grandpa’s famous breakfast, brushing Scout and Cookie, fishing in the ponds, searching for arrowheads, riding through pastures in the Green Bean, shooting milk jugs, and going to bed stuffed by his greasy hamburgers. As his granddaughters got older, he often dined them at Golden Corral, followed along for more dirt track racing, and enjoyed making his great-grandsons laugh.

Bob is survived by daughter, Nanette, son and daughter-in-law, Gregg and Dana, granddaughters Jessica, Brandi (Husband: AJ Flusche), Kasey (Husband: Tommy Sharp), and Taylor, great-grandsons Nolan and Carson Flusche, and Zander Sharp, and his best buddy Mr. BB. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Baby Neilson, wife, Martha, and his 4-legged sidekicks Jake, Buddy, and Sonny.

Bob’s family would like to extend their appreciation and thanks to his caregivers from Westview Manor, Heartis, Providence Hospital and Providence Hospice.

Under his wishes, Bob chose to be cremated, therefore, there will not be a viewing, but instead a memorial service will be held at Lake Shore Funeral Home on Thursday, October 28, 2021 from 6:00-8:00pm to visit with family.
