Andrea Lois Holston Thomas was the youngest child born to late Ida Lovell McCoy ’Holston and Calvin Holston Jr., May 08, 1955 in Waco, Texas.

Service Information: Visitation will be from 10 – 11 am, Saturday, November 14, 2020 at the Highland Baptist Church with services beginning at 11 am.

She confessed her love for Christ and served as member of Mount Pleasant Baptist church under Pastor Larry Courtney in Downsville Texas. Andrea served as an Associate Minister, Minster of the Senior Choir, and Member of Sister Circle Bible Study, Sunday School Secretary, Administrative Assistant and Pastor Liaison. She was a loyal, reliable, committed and dedicated to all of those positions that she filled. Andrea transferred her membership to Highland Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor John Durham in Waco Texas. She held the following positions, Bible Study Fellowship Instructor for 17 years, Group Leader and Production Assistant. She attended Jefferson Moore High School in Waco, Texas where she receive her High School Diploma. She obtained an Associate’s Degree in Computer Science from McLennan Community College, Bachelor’s Degree in computer science from Texas A&M University and received her Theological Seminary Certificate of Ministry from Truitt Seminary from Baylor University. Andrea expanded her knowledge for God and also received her Certificate of Ministry from Baylor University. Andrea has a quest for knowledge and encouraged her family to pursue that quest.

Andrea loved her job and was committed to the Veterans Administration Department for 28 years and was able to retire knowing her duties were completed. Most of all she loved being a wife, mother, daughter, aunt, sister, cousin, friend, and was known affectionaly as “Granny”.

With a heart of gold, she provided for her family. Andrea loved her church and whatever the church needed, she wanted to be the first to respond. She always shared what she had with anyone. Another attribute was her caring nature for her family and her friends. She was proceeded in death by her mother, Ida Lovell McCoy Holston, father Calvin Holston Jr.  Maternal Grandmother Ida Mae McCoy, and Grandfather Lovell McCoy. Paternal Grandmother Della Mae Johnson and Grandfather Calvin Holston Sr.

In 1985 she met the object of her affection and married Jackie Lewis Thomas. As they united as one on August 31, 1996. To this union they raised a lovely combined family, Kevin Johnson, Albert Holston, Stephen Manago, Jenny Sykes, Kenneth Benton (Rose Benton), and Traci Benton.

On Saturday morning, on October 31, 2020 at her residence Andrea Lois Holston Thomas reached her final destination from this earthly tabernacle.

She leaves to cherish her memory: husband, Jackie Lewis Thomas, sons, Albert Holston, Stephen Manago, Kenneth Benton and daughter Traci Benton of  Waco Texas , her sisters , Patricia Holston ‘Turner of San Francisco California, Gwendolyn Holston ’Johnson of Mart Texas and brother Calvin Holston III of Waco Texas. She was blessed with 20 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. Andrea showed abundant love and affection for her host of sister- in-laws, brother-in-laws, nieces, nephew, cousins, and friends.

Andrea was my BSF teacher and her love for the Lord was radiant. The welcome mat was always out anytime you saw her. She gave unconditional love and attention to all. She will be missed and remembered.

I met Andrea at the VA and she was the most wonderful, kindest and most giving person that I’ve ever known. She had a heart of gold and always had a prayer to give you when you needed it. I will pray for her husband and family always.

Jackie and family, I am saddened to learn of Andrea’s passing. As a part of the Information Technology team, she rescued me many times and was a jewel to me at the V. A. Regardless of my computer needs or problems, I could always count on her to troubleshoot and resolve the problem. My continuous prayers for comfort, strength, peace and understanding during this time of loss.
